Our IBJ-IJE Practice Groups are the opportunity for members to exchange best practices. Earlier this week our Practice Group meeting International Company Lawyers shared interesting insights on the crucial aspects to bear in mind in case of dawn raids. Our warm thanks to the panellists (Manon Bert, Ben Graham, Vincent MUSSCHE and Simon Vander Putten) for this interesting discussion and to the Co-Heads (Jan-Willem Geeroms, Thomas Pauwels and Anke van Bergeijk) for hosting this session. #practicegroupinternationalcompanylawyers #ijeibjevents

For two consecutive years, I have had the privilege and honor of serving as the Secretary of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC) for the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). This holds particular significance as it marks a historic milestone in the Association's over 60-year history. What makes this tenure even more remarkable is the fact that this year's AGCPC is spearheaded by an all-female team comprising Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, FCIArb (Chair), Amina Kaoje (Alternate Chair), Laura Alakija FCIArb (Secretary) and Chika Okoli (Alternate Secretary). This composition stands as a powerful testament to the NBA's unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusivity. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Y.C. Maikyau, SAN, FCIArb (UK) for entrusting us with this responsibility and for the vote of confidence. Special thanks also go to the Nigerian Bar Association Women’s Forum for their early and robust support – read the blogpost here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eK9jQ786 I eagerly anticipate collaborating with these exceptional women and the AGCPC for this year. Together, our shared goal is to elevate the standards even further and deliver another successful event. Fun Facts: In 2023, the AGC witnessed an impressive turnout with 16,340 registered participants. The event featured 27 technical sessions facilitated by 180 resource persons and was meticulously organized by a dedicated conference planning committee comprising over 70 individuals. #NBA #AGCPC #HistoryInTheMaking #DiversityandInclusion #Leadership #Teamwork #EmpoweredWomen #ConferenceSuccess #WomenInLeadership #BarAssociation #Service #ElevatingStandards #Collaboration #Empowerment #ConferencePlanning #LegalCommunity #AGC2023 #InnovativeLeadership

Theory meets practice: putting trustees on the fence. Had tremendous fun last week participating in STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Singapore's lunchtime seminar together with Peter Milnes and expertly chaired by Keith Ng, who must be credited with the clever title "Putting Trustees on the Fence". It is always edifying to interact with the folks directly involved in practice. https://lnkd.in/gJxyusC4
