Was wonderful to play my small part in this amazing week-long Sydney event by attending, connecting and amplifying.... So much to say about all aspects condensed to a few quick hashtags for now! #joyful #connecting #collaboration #fight #inspiring #confronting #urgency #bebrave #bevocal #scaling #nevergiveup #climatesolutions #economicsolutions #biodiversitysolutions #socialsolutions #foodsystems #natureiseverything #begoodancestors #humility #naturerepair Also, 2025, I'd love to see the ocean more represented... Our beautiful planet is 70% ocean; the ocean plays a crucial role in climate change - absorbing and storing the majority of excess climate change heat, acting as a buffer, protecting us to the detriment of many critical ecosystems (aren't all ecosystems critical!) that include coral reefs, oyster beds, seagrass meadows and kelp forests; acting as a carbon sink, absorbing CO2 emitted by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, further mitigating the effects of climate change yet harming marine life and ecosystems. Influencing our weather patterns and climate systems; as well as sea level rise and feedback loops. Bring on the #blue 💙, still love the 💚
53 venues. 115 public ticketed events. 6000+ tickets sold. 1 dream. 💚 Sydney, you were amazing. For now, we just want to say a huge thank you for everyone involved in the very first Climate Action Week in Australia. Sponsors, event hosts, organisers, volunteers, attendees, promoters: CAW wouldn't be possible without you! And we want to keep the conversation alive. We want this to be beyond Sydney and Australia. We want real impact. Keep posting, keep talking about it. 🌏 But for now, THANK YOU! 💙 #CAWSYD2024 #ClimateActionWeek2024 #ClimateActionNOW Photo: Susan Scholz at Surfers For Climate & Selcen Arslan-Sibo event

Thanks to our 2024 Earthshot Prize nomination by Impact Entrepreneur, Home Outside has been learning about the remarkable organizations, funding opportunities, and collaborative relationships that expand our capabilities to help with climate resilience. For instance, Impact Entrepreneur’s recent session “Pioneering Change: Catalyzing Climate Solutions,” presented by Sarah Kearney, explored break-throughs in carbon capture and gave us insights into the details of impact investing in the climate sector. A recent Earthshot newsletter introduced us to Restor.eco – the open-data platform that is helping restore biodiversity around the entire world. In a captivating video, Restor.eco founder Thomas Crowther lets us see and hear a biodiverse forest in Southern Europe and talks about his journey that resulted (after some bumpy steps along the way) in this magnificent platform that uses mapping, AI, and machine learning to let individuals and organizations learn about their land, including specific information about plant, amphibian, and mammal species, carbon sequestration, water, environment, and land cover over time. It’s thrilling to find everything you could hope to know about your own property–big or small–in one place. Hopefully, with enough resources and support, Home Outside will be able to expand our collections of native plants and keystone species to include every eco-region in the world, along with the information needed to access and install the plants, so that every homeowner is able to use their own property to restore biodiversity through their choices of plantings and best maintenance practices–for pollination, water retention, energy savings, and climate resilience, to help our warming planet. #homeoutside #restor #EarthShotPrize #ClimateResilience #impactentrepreneur

The 30by30 team is hosting a lunchtime webinar on Thursday 11 July, with expert speakers Dr. Ro Hill, Dr. Michelle Ward and Shaun Chau. Come along to hear about the federal government's new roadmap to protect 30% of Australia's land by 2030 👏 30by30 is a huge opportunity for Australia, and the world, to protect our precious nature and hand it onto future generations. Australia has committed to this goal and recently released a draft roadmap, which is open for public consultation until 19th July. But there’s one glaring problem with the plan. The federal government simply does not fund nature protection anywhere close to what we need to keep nature healthy. Right now, just 0.1% of the federal budget goes towards nature protection, whilst the fossil fuel industry receives 16 times as much! This is a key moment for groups working towards nature protection in Australia to call for a substantial increase in government spending. You can register to join at: https://lnkd.in/g2CWfHV9

If you want to make a difference, bringing your voice to the Vermont State House is one of the most impactful things you can do. #VTbiz #VTpoli --------------------------------------- “I believe strongly in equity and social responsibility. And that those of us who are aware are obligated to speak out. Legislative decisions come down to people and actions – the ‘easy way out’ is to do nothing, but we've come to find that our collective inaction has caused a greater imperative for action or reaction. We need to find ways to continue to engage, to continuously improve on our current solutions, to raise awareness and to keep our legislation actionable and equitable. And as we're all aware from current weather patterns, we need to do it now.” – Owiso Maluku, CEO, Main Street Landing (excerpts from 2003 Businesses for Climate Action Lobby Day press conference)
