By living over 10 years in cities severely impacted by floods, hurricanes and sea level rises like Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong, I witnessed firsthand the impacts of climate change. I knew that capital had to be mobilized toward solutions that help society not only survive but thrive in the face of environmental challenges. Since 2022, we built a coalition of investors now influencing over $22 billion to climate solutions, they understand the immense economic and social value in funding climate mitigation & adaptation technologies. In 10 years, I see the Climate Tech Coalition as a global renowned leader in climate adaptation finance, having backed at least 500 transformative companies and delivering serious return for its investors. More importantly, we’ll have contributed to reducing the potential $36-60 trillion in global GDP losses worldwide, playing a key role in helping societies prepare for and mitigate climate risks.

Coming back for the kick off meeting of Pathways2Resilience, looking forward to the next 18 months working with regions on their climate resilience strategies. A couple of unexpected observation (at least form me) - lots of interesting in visioning and futures as a way to engage local stakeholders and expand the way planing is done. But more than the methods, it’s about how to embed these regions into policy and citizens processes and thinking. - many questions about monitoring and evaluation of adaptation, what are adaptation outcomes? Which I think connects nicely with the point above. How to understand progress in the context of deep uncertainties and highly local agendas. looking forward to working with Sanchita Bakshi Ricardo Silva Valeria Di Fant Silvia Doglioni in these topics, and of course, the 40 regions! Humanist | Connecting the dots between global challenges | Writer, Historian, Researcher | Advocating for a balanced, resilient future
Fascinating interview with Per Espen Stoknes, economist and psychologist who helped create the Earth4All model, book and movement. He explains the Earth4All program and how it could offer solutions to today's interconnected crises. Link to the full interview in the original post. #polycrisis #metacrisis #sustainability #limitstogrowth #humanity
📕 Week 2: Who is behind Earth4All and what is its history? In this second clip from Climate Workspace 6, we learn that Earth4All is an update to the ground-breaking 1972 report The Limits to Growth and was created through a collaboration between PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the Stockholm Resilience Centre and BI Norwegian Business School, and commissioned by The Club of Rome, who also commissioned The Limits to Growth. 👀 Watch the whole interview: https://lnkd.in/dsNSbjnv Next Wednesday we will post the next video in this series, which covers why our world is in trouble and how the systems modelling of Earth4All helps us understand the scope of the problems. 🌟 If you are interested in aligning to the movement, sign up at https://earth4all.life And consider sharing this post–or the entire video–the more we all understand, the easier it is for all of us to rally around solutions. - - - 🌍️ Hi! This is going to be a fantastic 2-day event. Really great line up of speakers, on such an important subject. As someone who doesn't believe that many examples of actual democracy currently exist in the world, I'll be interested to hear what the speakers have to say about whether the climate crisis could actually present positive opportunities for us to reshape political leadership. I think we need to move away from careerist politics backed by big business, towards some kind of citizen-led commons, if we are to survive the existential crisis.
I love a SPACE4 conference. And not just because I work here…. 🤣 I think the size and atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between informal and professional. There’s always a friendly vibe, lots of interesting chat, and, most importantly, we know the best independent catering options in Finsbury Park. I’m exciting that this time round we’ve been working with James Muldoon from the University of Essex to organise a two-day conference on Democracy and the Climate Crisis. We’ve got 20 speakers with some epic sounding research areas. To name a few: 👉🏾 John Barry - Climate Breakdown, Political Turbulence and Conflict Transformation: democratically navigating a just transition to post-carbon and post-growth futures 👉🏾 Daniel Lindvall - Climate change as a factor renegotiating existing structures of democracy 👉🏾 Marit Hammond - Climate change, democracy and structural power 👉🏾 Jayne Carrick - Participatory Climate Futures: testing the use of interactive documentary making to improve Climate Assembly follow-up 👉🏾 Amanda Machin - A Critique of Assemblies Logic 👉🏾 Yousaf Nishat-Botero - Democratic economic planning in an age of climate crisis 👉🏾 Jacob Blumenfeld - Socializing the Means of Destruction: Planning Decline 👉🏾 Dougie Booth - Carbon constituencies and the transition towards a democratically planned economy + a whole day of workshops on participatory democracy, climate assemblies and participatory budgets. All for only £10/day including lunch: https://lnkd.in/g38wNqXh
