I promise this will be my last post (at least for the foreseeable future) on the topic of hiring. When we're looking for an analyst, there are several key qualities we value. They need to be curious, productive, and confident—traits that ensure they can keep up with our dynamic team. And, as everyone at Nucleus Research insists, they have to have a good sense of humor, particularly for my jokes. However, beyond the humor, there's a more critical quality an analyst must possess: empathy. While the role may seem highly technical on the surface, it involves connecting with customers and truly understanding how they utilize technology, identifying their pain points. The ability to listen actively and provide effective solutions stems from empathy. #hiring #hiringtips #techanalyst

What exactly is a data engineer? There are numerous common misconceptions surrounding the role, and firsthand, I've encountered many applications that don't quite align with its true nature. To me, a data engineer is someone who navigates data pipelines and patterns to construct products that cater to clients' needs. Now, one might wonder, do our platform engineers not deal with data? They certainly do. Any interaction with a database qualifies as data engineering; the distinction lies in the scale and complexity of the data involved. My own journey in data engineering commenced in a rather traditional manner, as I began developing mainframe applications for Syntel. That experience delved into the essence of old-school databases. Following my master's degree, I discovered more efficient approaches beyond mainframes. I pioneered robust pipelines for Trendrr and Twitter, tackling massive real-time data processing challenges in a time when suitable tools were scarce. Transitioning to building the data stack for Deepintent, initially within the realm of platform engineering, we eventually formed a dedicated team to oversee comprehensive pipelining and tool development. The evolution of our data engineering team has been remarkable. We progressed from a modest data stack featuring Kafka and MongoDB to a sophisticated infrastructure incorporating ClickHouse, Druid, and even Snowflake. As we introduce new products, our stack continues to evolve. Concurrently, our team has grown substantially; what began as a modest duo has flourished into a formidable force of 22 individuals, each contributing expertise ranging from data quality assurance to governance. So, what does it entail to be part of the DeepIntent Data team? It involves crafting pipelines from scratch without heavy reliance on preexisting tools. A willingness to learn, coupled with a strong foundation in Java or Python and a knack for database manipulation, forms the ideal profile. Do you believe you fit this description?
