🌟 Cargas Employees were Out and About in June! 🌟 🎉We started off by celebrating success with our neighbors at the Lancaster Chamber dinner, toasting achievements alongside other local businesses. 🔬We sparked curiosity at the Lancaster Science Factory by showcasing the power of circuits at The Lancaster Science Factory to kids (and kids at heart). 🕶️ Three brave Cargasians rappelled down the local Holiday Inn to support VisionCorps Corps and their mission of improving sight. #OverTheEdge 🌈 Cargas proudly joined forces with other local organizations to sponsor and celebrate at Lancaster Pride. At Cargas, we believe in the power of networking, learning, and embracing new experiences. ✨ #cargas #networking #innovation #communityengagement

President & Executive Director, EmeraldPlanet International Foundation and Creator & Host, The EmeraldPlanet TV
Title: St. Mary's River National Model Program: Scientific Research; Sustainable Nutrition Studio Guest: Christopher Puttock, Research Associate, Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Rotary International with its 1.3 million members believes world-wide change starts with a commitment to "Service above Self". In more than 34,000 clubs worldwide, members are volunteering in communities at home and abroad to supporting education and job training, providing clean water, combating hunger, improving health and sanitation, and eradicating polio, among thousands of local and international projects. Rotary clubs are open to people of all cultures and ethnicities and are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace. The Rotary International Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. Rotary International Foundation has changed the fundamental format and purpose of its grant process. The Foundation recognized the need to use its limited resources more effectively. In 2007, the Foundation spent 20 percent of its program budget on long-term activities with high impact, and 80 percent on short-term activities with minimal impact. The new grant model will reverse that: 80 percent of the program budget will support high-impact, sustainable projects. The new grant model will also help meet the priorities and goals of Rotary's strategic plan. The six areas of focus are: 1) Peace and conflict prevention/resolution; 2) Disease prevention and treatment; 3) Water and sanitation; 4) Maternal and child health; 5) Basic education and literacy; and 6) Economic and community development. The Trustees identified these as critical humanitarian issues that Rotarians are already addressing worldwide. Previous Rotarian experience and interest in these areas will promote project success. Agency for Nature uses creativity in service of life on earth. Helmed by two climate non-profits, Glimpse and Purpose Disruptors, Agency for Nature invited creatives from agencies like Wieden+Kennedy, Amplify and The&Partnership to create work to get young people to fall in love with nature. Resulting campaigns seek to address young people's disconnectedness from nature, which is especially prevalent in the UK. https://lnkd.in/dkMjAatT

On this Earth Day, let's journey back to 1970, where diverse crowds across the nation, from New York to California, stood united for the planet. From students in St. Louis marching against air pollution, to peaceful demonstrators in Philadelphia, and vibrant rallies in Boston and California, each image tells a story of activism and hope. The presence of gas masks symbolized the fight against the smog blanketing our industrial cities, while energetic rallies from coast to coast captured the beginnings of a global movement. 🌎 In Milwaukee, residents honored the vision of Earth Day's founder, Senator Gaylord Nelson, with protests, musical performances, and teach-ins. Some made rafts and paddled down the Milwaukee River. 🌎Nipher Junior High in Missouri marked the day with student protests, reflecting a wider local effort filled with teach-ins on pollution. 🌎Philadelphia's Earth Week culminated in a grand gathering of 7,000 people, featuring speeches by Ralph Nader and performances from the cast of Hair, echoing the era's cultural zeitgeist. 🌎In New York City, even the youngest citizens, like students from the Convent of the Sacred Heart School, took brooms to Union Square, literally cleaning up their environment. 🌎Behind it all, Denis Hayes, a visionary student from Harvard, coordinated these nationwide teach-ins, cementing Earth Day as a pivotal moment in environmental advocacy. These historic moments remind us that change starts with us. This year, as we reflect on the lessons from the past, let's also look forward to the future we are building together. Each of us holds the power to plant seeds for a greener tomorrow, from small personal choices to large-scale entrepreneurial ventures. 🌟 What actions are you taking this Earth Day to drive change in your community? Let's celebrate Earth Day together and amplify our impact. #EarthDay

First Alaskans Magazine, Winter 2023-2024 "United on Policy: Advocating for our Communities, Holding our Differences" Discussing the Southeast Alaska Sustainability Strategy (SASS) and the youth programs it supports, our Sustainable Southeast Partnership (SSP) Director, Marina Anderson, graces the cover of First Alaskans Magazine sharing the story of her, Katie Riley, and Tesla Cox trip to Washington DC. In April 2023, Tesla (Sealaska), Katie (Sitka Conservation Society), and Marina (Spruce Root) from SSP/ Spruce Root traveled roughly 3,500 miles to the US capitol with a thank you. While it is rare for federal legislators and agencies to receive in-person praise for a policy that’s already been enacted, these women leaders are not afraid to challenge norms– especially when they aren’t serving the communities they care deeply about. In the offices of Mary Pelota, Dan Sullivan, and Lisa Murkowski, they expressed gratitude, shared gifts, and advocated for their home region and communities. These women and their organizations represent a growing shift in the Tongass National Forest, moving away from polarization and fighting, toward collaboration and building common ground. This is the power of the SSP. Written by Shaelene Grace Moler, who is the current Spruce Root Community Economic Development Fellow through the Alaska Fellows Program and a past Sealaska SSP intern, this article features the photography/visual art of three other past Sitka Conservation Society and SSP interns: Lee House, Muriel Reid, and Sienna Reid. Read more in First Alaskans Institute magazine! #SASS #sustainablesoutheast #indigenousadvocacy #indigenoussovereignty #womeninleadership #nativeyouth #sustainability #communitydriven #policy #policymakers #marypeltola #dansullivan #lisamurkowski #policyandchange #firstalaskans

Peering through the cracks between Strategy, Futures, Design & Culture. Runs Smithery, a strategic design practice. Teaches @IED Barcelona, @RCA. Artefact Cards, Steps Collective, Cardstock. Scottish; understandably so.
Yesterday, Lizzie Shupak and I talked at the third installation of The Steps Collective. Lizzie reflected on how we orientate ourselves, practically and psychologically, through our respective regenerative practices. I explored a some of the emerging thoughts I've been exploring this year on how Participatory Futures might be 'The Punk to Foresight's Prog', and how that chimes with some of the things we tried last week at Future Days, and where these things might be further improved for future things like this. In the aftermath too, we started hatching some awesome plans about future editions of The Steps Collective - sign up here to follow along: https://lnkd.in/eNJQGYGh #regenerative #regenerativefutures #participativefutures #futures https://lnkd.in/e4YzQtRc

Hands on Prospecting Poirot | Conversion Conjurer through Conversation | Professional Lead Generation | I will help you win new business and follow up your open quotes and proposals..
Nature has the answers. “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” – Albert Einstein. Most of my work at the keyboard and on the phone gets done in the conservatory. It’s a great environment to work in, naturally well lit with a view of the garden. Sometimes though, there is too much light. Yes, I know it’s a first world problem but when you are struggling to read things on a screen, too much reflective sunlight reduces productivity. I wrestled with over a few weeks to find a solution - maybe a few extra blinds on the windows or a plastic film on the glass would help. Hmm, I wasn’t sure. Fortunately, during my dithering, nature came to the rescue, in the form of a very fast-growing passion flower plant, which out of nowhere spread its light filtering foliage up and over my workspace. Job done with a natural and cost-effective (ie free) solution. Oh, and the flowers are beautiful too! Now, while on the subject of flowers, did you know that bees can help us with innovation? They might even have been the driver behind Google’s strategy of encouraging employees to spend 20% of their working time on new projects. Here’s a fascinating video from Rory Sutherland about bees and their waggle dance. https://lnkd.in/eAbR32pe “If you’re not failing every now and again, it’s a sign you’re not doing anything very innovative.” – Woody Allen. Thank you for reading. Enjoy your day! #Innovation
