The CARZONE International team joined Automechanika Shanghai (AMS) in 2023. During the three days of the exhibition, the project team introduced CARZONE’s background, #supplychain capabilities, and system development history to guests from different countries, laying the foundation for future cooperation. The supply chain and product development teams discussed the development strategy of #globalsourcing and supply chain diversification with suppliers from many countries. Luca de Meo is "doing a Škoda" (that's the business school technical term) with #Dacia and metamorphosing the profitable budget brand – that incidentally saw higher volumes than its parent Renault brand in six of the 18 West European markets this year according to our latest 10-months data – into a brand for all, making thrifty stylish and striking while the economy is "cold" – the exact climate in which Dacia thrives. Dacia really got its European break under similar circumstances in 2008 when generous cash for clunker scrappage incentives introduced in 2009 across many European markets in order to boost the market following the sub-prime inflicted global financial crisis, helped Dacia get a foothold in a cash-strapped market. Volumes rose from just under 100K in 2008 to just under 200K in 2009. Now with the new Duster the Romanian brand will likely break through 0.5mn annual volumes across Western Europe for the first time during 2024 and get even closer to Renault in the process. The budget brand turns up the heat during chilly times.

This year, IAA MOBILITY exceeded expectations, ultimately becoming a showcase for both German and Chinese companies, with the latter making a growing impact in the European EV market. As a brand experience strategist, I observed that the exhibits of BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Mercedes truly stood out. While each had its unique qualities, they all emerged as winners. BMW Group's exhibit seamlessly blended with the city, utilizing colors and a thoughtfully designed layout, with a strong focus on entertainment. The section dedicated to the new BMW vision, the Neue Klasse concept, was equally captivating, sparking curiosity and admiration. Mercedes-Benz AG took a bold approach, placing emphasis on an enlightening presentation with an exceptional level of light show, carefully chosen keywords, and direct visual communication. They certainly defined their own class. Porsche AG 's exhibit exuded their brand identity from every corner, with the iconic 911 model at its heart, even outlining the space with a car-shaped canopy. Various models along the central axis of the stand made it all coherent, complemented by a bar and intriguing giveaways. Volkswagen Group, with a two-level exhibition space, focused extensively on families and electric/hybrid vehicles. They needed little else, given their instantly recognizable designs. Their multivans are a common sight on the streets of Munich, and they even provided a food truck. It's always fascinating to witness how brands evolve their event experiences. Formula E on Monday announced the relocation of its global logistics headquarters to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, marking a significant operational shift. The relocation is coupled with an ambitious expansion of the circuit, transforming it into a cutting-edge development hub for the all-electric Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile Formula E World Championship. Previously located at the British Donington Park circuit, the new global hub in Valencia presents a strategic advancement in logistics efficiency and sustainability for Formula E. Its proximity to a major port optimises freight routes across Europe and beyond, significantly enhancing Formula E’s ability to leverage sustainable sea freight options. The new location will also become the series’ permanent test track and development centre, with dedicated test sessions and offices.
