Why Meatington? After overcoming significant personal and health challenges, and with the unwavering support of my family, we embarked on a new venture: Meatington. But why Meatington? The inspiration behind Meatington came from our shared love for food and our desire to create something meaningful together as a family. We saw an opportunity to bring fresh, high-quality, and innovative food products to the market. Our goal was not just to start another business but to build a brand that stands for quality, trust, and innovation. Starting Meatington was driven by the vision to offer products that people can trust and enjoy. We wanted to create a brand that resonates with our values of integrity, excellence, and community. It was about creating something that we could all be proud of and that could make a positive impact on our customers’ lives. Of course, there were challenges. Transitioning from our established businesses in textiles and travel to a local consumer-facing business was a significant shift. We knew we had a lot to learn, but we were excited about the opportunities this new venture presented. Meatington is built on the foundation of our core values: quality, innovation, and family. These values guide everything we do, from product development to customer service. They are the pillars that hold us up and keep us grounded. As we move forward, our aspirations for Meatington are clear. We aim to grow and expand, continually innovating and improving our offerings. And closest to home, I passed my first roadside random breath test after a massive session on the Heaps Normals.  🍻

From Sand Hill to Spaklerweg - just returned from our VC tour of the Valley.  Exhausted, but fully energized.   Here's what I learned: ✅ This is the eco-system to turn bold ambitions into reality. Met founders and funders that seem to have insane ambitions, but they might actually pull it off over here. A true breeding ground for breakthrough innovation ✅ What an amazing clustering of talent, ambition and can-do mentality. It was truly inspirational and highly contagious ✅ Dutch founders seem to do well in the Valley. Met a few great examples that blend our Dutch down-to-earth mentality with super high ambitions. Great role-models   And for MOOS:  👉 Strong encouragement for MOOS. We clearly stand to disrupt the retail space, finally offering a solution that can leverage shelf insights at scale to improve retail operations 👉 Some clear feedback to improve our effectiveness. We seem to have all of the cards on the table, but now need to play them well. Loved how a few simple wording changes resonated much better. There’s clearly a VC jargon and format to adopt 👉 Made some great connections to help us propel our mission and help MOOS conquer the world Looking forward to the follow-up actions and infusing some of the US-VC spirit to MOOS 🎯

We’re riding the wave of two 4-day weeks, the end of the financial year, and an early Easter. It’s a unique blend of busyness and excitement, and speaking of excitement, we’re still buzzing from the Jangro Ltd Board meeting yesterday. The insights into the year ahead are promising phenomenal growth for the group and its members, truly inspiring stuff! Today, Jade Pienaar and Roger Rees have been showcasing cutting-edge cleaning products and solutions to a new startup. It’s exhilarating to think about the fresh perspectives and innovations they're bringing to the table. Meanwhile, Barry G. and Darren Bartholomew are tirelessly following up on a mountain of leads from a recent Business expo, and our production room upgrade is advancing by leaps and bounds. A huge shoutout to Sam Worden for her invaluable assistance. Sam had guided our Production team, reviewing and updating all processes, and masterminding the upgrade. For someone who likes to keep a tight rein on things, letting go and trusting others was a challenge, Sam has been nothing short of fantastic and the team have really bought in to working with somebody new, Sam has brought a new energy to the team and skill set we simply don’t have. Sam’s expertise and hard work have made a significant impact, and we’re looking forward to collaborating again in the future. And as if that wasn’t enough excitement, new contract notifications are becoming a daily joy! With some significant projects in the pipeline, we’re gearing up for a bustling summer ahead. I know all the team back at The Maintenance Supply Co Ltd will be thrilled. Now, on a lighter note, who’s seen my Crème Egg? 🥚😂 Here’s to embracing the chaos, celebrating the wins, and looking forward to the bright future ahead. Discovering My True North: From Braeside to SocioTech In 2020, a year of unprecedented changes, I embarked on a journey that reshaped my understanding of purpose and passion. Selling Braeside Meat Market and co-founding Chefs with Compassion were just the beginning. But it was my encounter with Marna de Lange and her revolutionary SocioTech initiative that marked a pivotal moment. Within seconds of learning about their Broad-Based Livelihoods Programme, I knew I had found my calling. The connection was instantaneous, a mere 5 seconds that determined my life's next chapter. 🌟 Why SocioTech? It's simple - their work resonates with my deepest belief: people are people and change is possible for us all using what we have, where we are and with a little bit of knowledge. My mission now is to contribute my all to this cause, helping individuals build better futures through innovative SocioTech solutions.
