HOSPITALITY NEWS #709 Corporate motorsports hospitality growth potential in India Entertaining top customers at the F1 is really big. The Paddock Club for VIP entertainment in Singapore costs a whopping USD 11,000 or more for a 3 day pass. Free flowing champagne, food by Michelin star chefs, and more. Singapore has been hosting the Formula One Night Race since 2008. Some 260,000 spectators attended F1 in Singapore this year. September is the month of the Formula One (F1) in Singapore. I attended the Singapore F1 again after a break of a few years. The mood at this year’s Singapore F1 was electric. Busy. Fun. International. And, truly exciting. There is something about fast cars - speed, danger, suspense, pure excitement, and more. F1 cars race at a top speed of some 360km/hour, which is a little bit more than the Shinkansen Bullet Train. It is truly amazing to see drivers in their cars whiz past you, pure energy and so very noisy. They say, F1 races typically reach 140 decibels, just below the level that causes permanent hearing loss! A lot of things happen on a F1 circuit. Spectacular crashes. Cars which break down. Pit-stops which only take seconds to change the tires. Cars which overtake and are overtaken. After 62 laps going at over 300km/hour, the time difference between the first and second place are usually seconds, or less than a second! It’s an exciting, fast paced, very very interesting race. 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 20 to 22 September 2024 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 : Marina Bay Street Circuit | Singapore The original Singapore Grand Prix was held at Thomson Road from 1966 to 1973. The event was discontinued after 1973, and a variety of reasons have been suggested, including an increase in traffic, the very high danger and unsuitability of the track for racing, the inconvenience of having to close roads for the event, and fatal accidents during the 1972 and 1973 races. Announced in 2008, an agreement for a five-year deal was signed by Singapore GP Pte Ltd, the Singapore Tourism Board, and Bernie Ecclestone. The race was co-funded by the Government of Singapore, footing 60% of the total bill, or S$90 million, out of a total tab of S$150 million. Around 110,000 tickets were made available for the country's first Formula One race. Corporate hospitality suites and packages went on sale at the end of November 2007, and three-day passes to the public went on sale in February 2008. Then it becomes a successful Formula One event from 2008 to recent years. It's 22 times held that event, and while Ferrari, Renault, and Toyota are “factory” teams, that is, they manufacture their entire F1 car, “independent” teams such as Sauber, Williams, and McLaren need to purchase engines. BMW, Honda, and Mercedes are popular engine suppliers. It's not just a formula racing event, including various traditional and cultural entertainment for that event. this time it includes performances by OneRepublic and Tones And I. 🏎️ What an exciting couple of weeks in the world of Formula 1! The standings post Baku and Singapore mean that the 2024 championship trophy is almost in reach, and it looks like it’s going to be a close call. ✈️ While the drivers have been having fun on track, our team at F42 have been working behind the scenes to make sure the paddock and beyond has a means of getting on the road. 📞 Four wheels aren’t always the first port of call at street races, but we love that we are trusted to support the few who do need another means of getting from A to B such as people carriers and specialist vehicles. While we might not always be on site for these kind of GP’s, we are but only a phone call away offering 24/7 on-call support throughout. 📧 If you’re a team, supplier, manufacturer, or broadcaster looking for support with your travel logistics there is still time for us to shine and show you what you’ve been missing all season. Email info@f42travel.co.uk to arrange a call with one of our experienced team to discuss how we can support your transport needs. #FormulaOne #F1 #BakuGP #SingaporeGP #CarRental #TravelLogistics

Corporate motorsports hospitality growth potential in India Both F1 and MotoGP started in Europe, but they are now truly global, and there is a truly global fan base. Originally with a European fan base, this has expanded to the Americas and then Asia, Australasia. Fans from Europe come to Singapore and India, and Asian fans go overseas to popular races. Valencia and Barcelona are popular destinations for MotoGP, for example. F1 in 2023 is held in 22 circuits globally, starting with Bahrain and concluding in Abu Dhabi. MotoGP in 2023 is held in 20 circuits globally, starting with Algarve (Portugal) and concluding in Valencia (Spain). I caught up with my friend from Barcelona Ms Griselda Foguet Plaza who is Hospitality & Experiences Director of Dorna Sports which runs the MotoGP business globally. “It was the first time that we did MotoGP in India. I felt there is a huge and much bigger potential for MotoGP in India. We are of course coming back next year, which will be bigger and better” said Griselda san. MotoGP just held its India debut race just in October 2023. MotoGP India had over 110,000 spectators join in its inaugural year. Corporate motorsports hospitality entertainment is big. Top B to B customers are invited to motorsports events. Entertaining top customers at the F1 is really big. The Paddock Club for VIP entertainment in Singapore costs a whopping 11,000 USD or more for a 3 day pass. Free flowing champagne, food by Michelin star chefs, and more. For MotoGP India it can start from 2,000 Euros for a 2 day pass, but prices are likely set to increase next year. VIP corporate motorsports entertainment at hospitality suites are more and more popular - that wine and dine at the highest levels to ensure better business relationships and deals. For those who are not at the hospitality suites, in other words the majority of spectators, food and drinks can be on the pricey side at the food stalls, but given the fantastic atmosphere of enjoying food and drink at motorsports events, customers are happy to pay that bit extra. F1 may come back to India, and MotoGP will only grow in India, it will be exciting to see motorsports grow in India, and VIP corporate hospitality too. 🏆 🚘Toyota Gazoo Racing: A Masterclass in Motorsport and Marketing📢 This weekend, I had the thrilling experience of attending the Toyota Gazoo Racing event in Phuket. As a huge motorsport enthusiast, I couldn't resist being part of the excitement. The atmosphere was electric, with fans and racers alike showing immense passion and energy. One of the standout moments was the ALTIS race, where the competition was fierce and the drivers showcased incredible skill and determination. It is that time of year again; one of my favourites in Singapore, F1 Season. As a huge F1 fan, I often find myself conflicted. My love for the sport, the thrill of the races, the precision of the teams—it’s all incredibly captivating. But there’s a nagging thought in the back of my mind: what’s the environmental cost of all this excitement? I learned something interesting last year from Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing: All the cars racing across 20+ global F1 events emit roughly the same carbon footprint as one jumbo jet taking off from Changi. That fact definitely puts things into perspective, but it doesn’t erase the bigger picture. The real impact comes from the logistics—travelling around the world, the mass use of plastic, and the scale of it all. At times, it feels unsustainable. But the truth is, this isn’t just about F1. Whether it’s movie-making, football, or touring bands, large-scale entertainment comes with a huge footprint. The key isn't about giving up what we enjoy—it’s about doing what we love in a more sustainable way. F1 has already made strides in reducing its environmental impact; the same goes for many other industries. But we, as fans, can push for even more innovation, holding the things we love to a higher standard. It’s about rethinking sustainability so we don’t have to choose between our passions and the planet. The photo below is me and Michaelangelo celebrating last year's Ferrari victory at the Singapore Grand Prix podium.
