I build stuff on the internet + share my journey in hopes it helps you | Founder @ Adelante CX | Zendesk Integrations And Setup & Founder@Clearsight | SaaS Security
TL;DR: The one TV character that changed how I develop MVPs. Meet Fred Flinstone. A devoted father, neighbor, and a TV icon. He's also the source for the outstanding term: "Flinstoning." In the Flinstones show, you see Fred driving a car, but he's not actually driving it. He's running with his feet, and that moves the car forward. The term "Flinstoning" became a definition of a state when something is supposed to be automated but is done manually. And how could you use it to your advantage? An excellent example of that is when Reddit just started. The founders messaged themselves on the platform for about six months and started discussions. One day, they woke up, logged in, and discovered someone *else* had started a thread on their platform. So basically, Flinstoning is a great way to create some initial attraction in your network. When you're just starting out, you face a critical crossroads: When should you do end-to-end development, and when should you start small and do manual processes to cultivate a deeper understanding before automating? Just like Mr. Flintstone, you might find it useful to sustain some features yourself if you're not sure they will stay there for the long run. It might take some heavy lifting (pun intended), but it would surely help you to focus on what matters the most: Fast growth.

Channel strategists, here's a crucial tip for 2024: shift gears from going big to going wide. "Doing more of the same with less resource doesn't equal to more growth" Why? Witness how industry giants like Microsoft and Cisco are focusing on SMB's, priorititizing on long tail, partner acquisition and enablement, and scaling this approach. Rick and I chat about this and more in episode 64 of Partnerships Unraveled, discussing what were some of the partner strategies for 2023 which aged well and which ones should be absolutely discarded in the new year. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Tim 1:7
Part of what I love about my job is talking with super interesting people who are building super cool solutions to today's problems. Enter Lihi Lutan and Opstream. We had so much fun talking on the ProcureTech Wonders series about this really amazing women founded company. Orchestration is hot. And, Opstream was designed with Indirect and Direct in mind. Link in comments to the full video where we go through: - 15 mins of Q&A about Opstream (how they are different, how they price, lessons learned and so much more...) - 15 mins of demo - 3 things I love and 3 things I don't love yet Totally worth a watch!!

Long post alert: One thing to love about 2024 is it's perfect, so far. So I've got that going for me, which is nice. tl;dr: see what's ahead for me and Orlando Tech News next year and how you can help. https://lnkd.in/eS5f8d3K As I sit here in Illinois, I have thought more about what's in store for me, my site and the content and projects I plan to embark on in 2024. If this were 3 years ago, it would be daunting. However, I do believe Orlando's #tech ecosystem has the depth necessary for everyone to succeed in 2024. If you know me, you know my demeanor is one of positivity without naïveté. So this isn't some kumbaya, everybody-gets-a-medal-for-participating post. It's going to take hard work. But I'm ready to push hard for this because I think Orlando's #technology ecosystem needs #storytellers like me (and several others) because we are in the stage where telling our #story is crucial. The question becomes whether the community values it or not. I think it does. To that end, I'm going to go ahead and put out into the universe what I'm building in 2024. Yes, this is "tipping my hand" if you think that way but I don't believe in keeping cards close to your chest if you put out quality work and use unique viewpoints - in this case, someone who in 2024 will mark 10 years in the ecosystem - to create #content. My interview with <insert newsmaker here> will be different from others because of that context. Not necessarily better if you track content from that perspective but different, for sure. So here's what to look forward to in 2024 and, as always, I invite you to support the site at Patreon. * A new video/news story series on Orlando's technology legends. One interview is already done and waiting for my editing hands. It's a 75-minute conversation with extra footage destined for Patreon. * A new podcast riffing on a thought I had before that "Everything is tech," which allows for guests from just about any industry in Orlando, from entertainment to defense, to talk tech. I'm excited from a presentation standpoint but you'll see when it launches. * Deeper dive stories that take on specific technology topics and industries, exploring how Orlando's ecosystem fits within them. * Exploring Florida's tech ecosystems and how they compare/contribute/complement Orlando's ecosystem. It's something I did in Iowa and it was well received. * A series that will regularly (weekly?) highlight a startup or startup support system/group to give more insight into what's being built in Orlando. Likely calling it, "Built in Orlando." * Did you know we have a Patreon? Well, in 2024, I will update that side with content more frequently. For instance, a deep-dive I'm doing about a couple of game developers will have plenty of extra content to share there. I do hope you find value in supporting us for less than $10/month and less than $100 a year. Thank you to those who already do! Link below (and above). It will be a busy year and I cannot wait!

Strong #product culture is the oposite of fiduciary duty, and it's not hard to prove it. Strong #productmanagement is about putting the #users at the center, taking care of their pains in a way that we can build a #business around it. Fiduciary duty is the responsability a publicly traded company has to its shareholders. This commitment means that companies must maximize shareholder value over everything else (except the law), which in other words means that you put the shareholder at the center and build a business around it. Have you ever wondered why product champions from the last dacades sound more and more like evil organizations today? #Amazon, #Netflix, #Spotify, #Meta, #Google, #Microsoft, #Uber... They have all became publicly traded companies between the 90s and the 2010s. The huge valuation from the aforementioned companies was grounded on #usercentric foundations, but thew grew by sistematicaly prioritizing investors over users. We like to talk a lot about #outcomes and #outputs, but are we ready to discuss #profit and #value? For more on this topic: https://lnkd.in/edC6Xyjz
