What can your business learn from the start of the Chiefs dynasty? One of the hardest parts of the Kansas City Chiefs offense to defend is simply Patrick Mahomes. Whenever a play breaks down, or if Patrick sees something he wants to do, he has been given the freedom to improvise. Most of Patrick Mahomes’s real highlight is his improvisation. Andy Reid plays for and gives Patrick Mahomes freedom to thrive in the offense. Do you give your leaders the freedom to thrive in your organization?

People don't have any control over the natural talent they were born with, but they do control the amount of effort they put into refining their art and complementing their talent with other relevant skillsets, which may position them to perform better than more talented individuals. There's no substitute to grit, perseverance, and hard work. It's also cool to know that data-based decision making was one of the key differentiators that helped Tom Brady succeed. #tombrady #leadershiplessons #dataanalytics
A few weeks ago, NFL legend Tom Brady joined us at the Capital One Ideas Drive event in Las Vegas, where we brought together auto dealers from across the country to hear his advice on teamwork and overcoming adversity. One of the points that resonated most with me was how he rose above the competition by leaning into and developing his strongest traits—or what I would call his superpowers. He was never the strongest, fastest or most athletically gifted among his peers. But he learned to dissect defenses by leveraging his dedication to studying game film, learning his opponents’ weaknesses and putting in the hours of practice to ensure he was prepared for every possible situation. “The path to success is never linear; it’s never a straight line. There’s going to be a lot of obstacles you face along the way,” he said. “But sometimes when you work really hard and it means a lot to you, other people recognize it and they start to believe in you, too, because they can see that you’re willing to pay the price and you’re willing to do what it takes to help everyone succeed.” It was an amazing conversation, and I’m so grateful to him for spending some time with us!

Someone needs to throw a penalty flag at the NFL. This latest play – a $110 million deal with Peacock to exclusively stream their first playoff game – really makes me wonder. Is the heart of their strategy their fans, or is it just the gains of a massive payout? As a successful businessperson, I spend time with many other successful entrepreneurs. In that business arena, the goal is to make clients feel they're getting the star treatment, not leaving them feeling sidelined. And this move by the NFL? Seems more benchwarmer than MVP to me. Success in business is about valuing clients, making them feel like the champions they are. We, as entrepreneurs and seasoned business leaders, should focus on nurturing those faithful relationships and creating memorable moments with those that matter most: our loyal clients. What do you think?

Complency stalls progress. Please don't come for me! I do realise this is not the full Law; however reflecting on this, I find deep parallels in life, business and in leadership. People and organisations have a tendency to maintain their current state until influenced by external factors. Recognising when and how to apply the proper force to initiate change and push momentum is crucial. #BusinessMotion #StrategicMomentum
