Saudi Arabia Planning on being a manufacturing hub for the car industry...... The demand for cars in the region has been fueled by: Young population Increase in female drivers Influx of expatriates Less developed public transport system Will we see a clear shift to EVs from the Saudi's and will we see a drive for the infrastructure behind this (Charging ports)..... As part of Vision 2030 the government are looking at 30% EV penetration in 6 years time!! This indicates significant growth potential for BEVs in the country over the coming years. In China, the world’s largest automobile market, the “very” or “moderately” likely BEV-purchase intention is nearing totality while growth in sentiment for pure BEVs stagnates at 35-43% in the USA and Europe. This is according to AlixPartners' 2024 International Electric Vehicle Consumer-Sentiment Survey, released by the global consulting firm AlixPartners. Otaxi App gears up to launch an electric taxi service in the Muscat governorate in the second quarter of 2024. This strategic initiative aligns seamlessly with Oman's ambitious objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, marking a significant milestone in transforming the nation's transportation landscape. CEO, Harith Maqbali emphasizes the pivotal role that electric cars play in supporting the Omani government's emission reduction targets. The trial, commencing in Muscat, is poised for expansion into other governorates, promising a gradual overhaul of the entire taxi fleet. This move is particularly impactful, considering that 60% of emissions from the transport sector stem from light vehicles, addressing a crucial aspect of environmental impact. In line with Oman's commitment, the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has outlined a phased approach to phase out fuel-operated vehicles by 2035. The ambitious plan aims for 79% of the country's vehicles to be electric by that time, with estimates projecting at least 22,000 new electric vehicles on Oman's roads by 2040. #automotivenews #middleeast #oman #otaxi #electricvehicles #taxi #automotive #omanvision2040 #thinkdirectautomotiveconsulting #TDAC
