With Pride Month right around the corner, we’ll soon see the rainbowfication of various corporates. While it’s always encouraging to see businesses show support, let’s hope this year it goes beyond the surface. True support means fostering an inclusive culture that champions equal opportunities and creates a genuinely welcoming environment for everyone (and not just turning your app logo/LinkedIn display picture rainbow to pride colours). Representation and visibility are important, but they must be backed by real, tangible actions that support the LGBTQIA+ community year-round. From hiring practices to workplace policies, and from employee resource groups to leadership training, every layer of an organization can and should reflect a commitment to diversity and inclusion. As we turn the calendar to July 1st, it’s essential to remember that our commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ employees doesn't end with the conclusion of Pride Month. 🌈 A few weeks ago, I shared several functional and meaningful strategies businesses can leverage to successfully show inclusivity to LGTBQIA+ employees. https://lnkd.in/gcqtD3eN It's important to continue fostering an environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and supported every single day of the year, not just during particular months or days. This means: -> Ensuring company policies and practices are inclusive and non-discriminatory. -> Providing ongoing education and training on LGBTQIA+ issues. -> Celebrating diversity in all its forms, not just during designated months. -> Offering support systems, such as employee resource groups and counseling services. -> Encouraging open dialogue and listening to the experiences of your LGBTQIA+ colleagues. 🌈 As we begin Pride month, we're reflecting on our progress towards LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace. Since the launch of our Diversity and Inclusion framework in 2022, we have introduced several key initiatives to improve the experiences of LGBT+ colleagues. Highlights include: ▪ Creating a global parental leave standard that covers same sex parents in 2022. The standard offers all new parent at Electrolux Group access to four weeks of paid parental leave.   ▪ Reviewing our policies and benchmarking our efforts against industry players, ensuring our policies are inclusive and up to date with best practices. ▪ Creating global learning resources for our employees to raise awareness about LGBT+ inclusion concepts in the workplace, such as an LGBT+ Inclusion toolkit and an Allyship and Microaggression toolkit. ▪ Signing external commitments such as Pride Connection in Chile and Forum LGBTI+ in Brazil.   ▪ Implementing safe and confidential mechanisms for LGBT+ employees to report incidents of discrimination and harassment via a helpline. ▪ Co-hosting the first-ever LGBT+ Nordic forum with Workplace Pride in 2023.    Our journey towards creating an inclusive and safe workplace for our LGBT+ colleagues is ongoing.
