Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR)’s Post

A new study published in #MedicalCare , led by Karen Lasater, provides evidence on the risks associated with reducing the proportion of RNs delivering patient care in hospital settings. Key findings include higher patient mortality, increased readmissions, and negative financial consequences for hospitals. Bravo Karen Lasater this is the right research for the right time - no matter that we’ve brought more technology into healthcare the past decade then ever before in history - the one fact that remains is that patient outcomes depend on the direct care of a nurse. Nurse to patient ratios are still the number one factor to determine outcomes. Now we must figure out the financial model that removes nurses from being a cost to healthcare systems and adopt a financial model to support nurses at the bedside. I will start using this study in all my public speeches on the state of the nursing workforce. #NursesOnLinkedIn #HealthcareOnLinkedIn Commission for Nurse Reimbursement
