🚀 Breaking Down GTM: 417 Sub-Categories identified so far 😶 Over the past four weeks, our team has been diving deep into the complexities of Go-to-Market. We contacted leading experts in the field, asking them how they would dissect GTM. The resounding consensus pointed to three main pillars: GTM Strategy, GTM Operations, and GTM Tactics. We also recognized the significant impact of framing conditions, which often shape the effectiveness of any GTM approach. Our experts also recommended suggestions like GTM OS, ICP, Positioning, or the Playing to Win framework. However, these could be categorized under our primary pillars: framing conditions, GTM strategy, GTM operations, and GTM tactics. In recent weeks, we've meticulously identified these four pillars' subcategories. While we may still need to cover everything, we're proud of our progress and committed to adjusting as we go. Here's the mind-blowing part: we've identified 417 subcategories! 😱 This doesn't mean every company needs to address all 417, but it highlights the complexity of GTM and the importance of simplifying it. Our next step? Developing guidelines, templates, partnerships, and more for each subcategory to make execution easier for everyone. So, who are we? of all the change happening in GTM, there is one emerging motion I’m most excited about in partnership: nearbound. we have data and research on partner-led motions at GTM partners, but the partner playbook itself really hasn’t transcending the walls of silo’d partnership departments. partner-led is not a department. i t’s a strategy for every department: for sales, marketing, success, ops, and product. it’s nearbound. It’s nearbound gtm. & i’m so joyous to see the newest book to hit the gtm space this year: “nearbound and the rise of the who economy” by Jared Fuller i’m joining jared to launch it live on tuesday, 2/27 — you gotta pick it up if you’re serious about the future of gtm. who’s going to join us LIVE?

As 700+ GTM senior executives convene in Nashville this week for Pavilion's GTM 2023 event, I'm incredibly inspired that the next few days are centered around a holistic go-to-market. GTM has been siloed by organizational structure, frameworks, and technology for too long. This disconnect in GTM has caused poor customer experience, revenue loss, and data distrust. Like org structure, roles and responsibilities for GTM teams can differ across companies. However, most GTM organizations have roles dedicated to each stage of the revenue funnel, with marketing at the top, sales in the middle, and CS and services at the bottom-of-funnel.
