#Poland will consider transferring at least one additional MiG-29 squadron to #Ukraine. The President of Ukraine’s website says that this applies to at least 14 fighter jets. The possibility of transferring additional fighter jets to Ukraine was considered during the signing of a security agreement between Ukraine and Poland. It will not be possible to transfer the fighters in the near future. As explained by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, these aircraft are currently involved in patrolling the skies as part of the NATO program. Last year, the Polish Air Force handed over 14 of its MiG-29 fighter jets to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. At the time, Poland needed German approval to transfer the fighter jets. In 2002, Germany sold 23 MiG-29 fighter jets to Poland, which the Bundeswehr inherited from the German Democratic Republic’s army. However, one MiG-29 still remained in #Germany and became an exhibit at the aviation museum at RAF Gatow in #Berlin. As of 2024, the Polish army still has 11 MiG-29As and 3 MiG-29UBs in service, for a total of 14 aircraft. For Poland, these outdated Soviet-era aircraft no longer meet modern needs. Now the country’s airspace is protected by F-16 fighter jets. In 2026, the Polish Air Force is to start receiving modern American F-35 fighters. Poland signed a contract for the purchase of 32 F-35 Lightning II aircraft on January 31, 2020. The contract is worth $4.6 billion. Poland is also interested in the latest F-15EX fighters to expand the capabilities of its Air Force. https://lnkd.in/dDuWphg2

Germany is handing over urgently needed Patriot systems to Ukraine, Norway is preparing 22 F-16 fighter jets, and Britain is considering testing laser weapons in Ukraine. Germany announced the urgent transfer of one additional Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. In addition, Norway received permission from the US to transfer 22 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, along with the necessary maintenance equipment. The discussion concerns a batch of 65 fighter jets jointly supplied by Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands with Washington's permission. However, Norway currently has only 12 combat-ready fighters; the status of the remaining 10 is unknown. Aircraft that are not functioning are planned to be disassembled for spare parts. Also, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps suggested that in a few years, samples of the latest DragonFire laser weapons (LDEW), which the country is developing, could be provided to Ukraine to strengthen its air defense. The DragonFire military lasers will be put into production five years earlier than planned - in 2027. In addition to the already agreed €2B, the Netherlands allocated another €1B for military aid to Ukraine, €400M for reconstruction next year, and plans to allocate another €3B in defense support. https://lnkd.in/dws_yajy

UAE Mirage-2000 fighter jets in China. But for what? What is this ALL ABOUT? — The UAE and China began their second Falcon Shield joint air exercise on July 10, 2024, in Xinjiang province at Hotan Airport. — The UAE deployed at least six Dassault Mirage 2000-9DAD/EAD fighter ground-attack aircraft, supported by an Airbus MRTT tanker/transport aircraft. — Two Boeing C-17A Globemaster heavy transports were also observed during the 2023 exercise, likely for transporting equipment and personnel. — The proximity of the UAE’s Mirage 2000s to PLAAF aircraft at Hotan Airport raises concerns about Chinese access to Western military aircraft. — This type of aircraft is also operated by the Taiwanese air force, making familiarization with its capabilities valuable to the PLAAF. — The exercises provide China with opportunities to examine the performance of Western aircraft, radar, and missile systems, potentially through dissimilar air-combat training.

Danish Minister of Defence, Troels Lund Poulsen, is in Buenos Aires today to meet his Argentine counterpart, Minister of Defence Luis Alfonso Petri, and to sign a letter of intent on the possible sale of Danish F-16 fighter jets. The decision to sell the Danish jets to Argentina has been carried out in close collaboration with the American government, who has approved the sale of the US produced aircrafts. As Denmark transitions to the F-35 fighter jet, they are phasing out their F-16 fleet. This sale allows Denmark to strategically re-allocate these aircraft while bolstering Argentina’s air defense capabilities. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gNctMMiB
