Zeotech (ASX:ZEO) is working to advance the development of low-emissions building products using its cement supplement – high-grade kaolin. It aims to do this through a new partnership with Holcim Australia, one of the largest building material organisations in Australia and New Zealand. Metakaolin is increasing in demand as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) that could advance low-carbon cement and concrete by partially substituting clinker in Portland cement and concrete binder mixes. "In the context of GREENKEY SOLUTIONS, LOESCHE provides a solution to fully recycle crushed concrete on an industrial scale to make it available for cement production." The S/Crete technology for concrete recycling, demonstrates that full-scale industrial recycling is not only possible but also highly efficient. This patented process, made possible through selective grinding in LOESCHE vertical roller mills, provides a water-free, low-energy solution with a minimal carbon footprint. The versatility of S/Crete allows it to be scaled to various sizes, including mobile plants, and is applicable to all concrete types. The resulting materials have diverse applications, potentially reducing CO₂ emissions beyond their use as aggregates in fresh concrete. CHASM's Hari Harikumar was at IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Conference this week where the focus was on Sustainable Strength through Innovation! Did you know that concrete contributes to 8% of the world’s CO2 emissions? At CHASM, we're committed to addressing this challenge through our innovative approach to carbon nanotube technology for the cement and concrete industry. Our NTeC-C CNT reinforcing additives enable low-cost low carbon concrete. Just 1% adoption of NTeC-C can reduce CO2 emissions by 14 million metric tons per year. Our carbon nanotube technology address the top two strategies to decarbonize concrete: using concrete more efficiently and using less clinker in concrete. We're dedicated to advancing the conversation on sustainable strength through innovation. If you're interested in learning more about how carbon nanotubes are revolutionizing the cement industry, follow CHASM for updates and insights. #IEEEPCA #CementConference #SustainableStrength #Innovation #CHASM

#DCarb White cement's distinctive light colour and high quality achieved from accurate material selection and production processes. Transitioning to sustainable production presents challenges due to major differences in the production process and the need to maintain color purity. While supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) commonly used in grey cement production can reduce the #carbonfootprint, they often compromise the whiteness of #whitecement. Material selection, availability, and quality consistency are crucial in reducing the carbon footprint of white cement production. When facing these challenges, #Cementir utilizes its R&D and production expertise to investigate the entire value chain, collaborating with admixture companies and engaging loyal customers for input. Fast prototyping techniques expedited the launch of the D-Carb® range, marking a continuous effort toward #decarbonization for the #AalborgWhite® range. 💡 Exciting news from the #Carbon4Minerals project! The enforced carbonation reactor for the Heidelberg Materials #ReConcrete initiative will soon be installed at our Gorazdze cement plant in Poland. 🇵🇱 This innovative reactor directly sequesters CO2 from raw flue gas, revolutionizing sustainable cement production! ♻️ 👩🏻🔬 From lab to life 🚀 This cutting-edge technology developed by a team of brilliant scientists and engineers will transform recycled concrete paste into low-CO2 composite cements. It’s a big leap forward in closing the CO2 cycle and building a greener future. 🔧 Designed for flexibility and scalability, the pilot project incorporates advanced features like a Reaction Rotary Drum and Bag Filter, setting the stage for broader industrial applications. Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of innovation together! 💪 #Sustainability #Innovation #CementIndustry #EUHorizon #GreenFuture
Enforced Carbonation Reactor We are excited to announce that the enforced carbonation reactor for the ReConcrete project will be erected soon! This reactor will be directly integrated into our Gorazdze cement plant in Poland and is designed to carbonate recycled concrete paste. By directly sequestering CO2 from the raw flue gas, it eliminates the need for gas purification and CO2 separation steps required by other carbon capture technologies. https://lnkd.in/eNCdBVAA This initiative is part of the Carbon4Minerals project, which is a key component of the Heidelberg Materials #ReConcrete initiative. Co-funded by the EU Horizon Europe research and innovation program, it aims to revolutionize sustainable cement production by converting CO2 and recycled concrete into value-added building products. This process will utilize recycled concrete to create new low-CO2 composite cements, effectively closing the CO2 cycle in cement production. This concept comes directly from our R&D work, concept developed together with Jan Skocek, Ahmed HANAFI, Yen-Hau Chen and Nicolas Pato and integrated on-site in the cement plant by Patryk Suchodolski. We are making a crucial step from lab research to real-life application with ReConcrete. This achievement marks a significant milestone towards a greener future for the cement industry!

Cement and Concrete have traditionally been considered commodities. However, both products will become increasingly engineered-for-purpose and designed based on the availability of local and novel Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs).
Founder and CEO - Strategy Consultant (Performance Management + Business Development + Digital Transformation)
An interesting article by McKinsey & Company outlining the bright future ahead for the Cement/Concrete industries as they leverage Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) and other fillers to decarbonize their products and achieve sustainability and cost competitive advantages and eventually sustain their licenses to operate. What isn't mentioned though, is that harnessing these new materials require cement and concrete producers to adopt new technology like alcemy's in order to fully characterise the properties of SCMs and more importantly, to predict these properties in the performance of the cement and its various applications in concrete form.
The future cement industry: A cementitious ‘golden age’?
