Some of the strongest characters I know, and have worked with (in the Royal Navy and on this side of the fence), are women that have followed the engineering pathway. Whether that be Electrical, Mechanical, Weapons, Marine, Chemical... the list is endless, and each of them are key cogs in this machine. Check out the post below from the WRc Team, and give WRc Group a follow to learn more about what these ladies are up to, and how they are leading the charge for the future, through raising the bar in industry, and nurturing the next generation through STEM activities. #IWED2024 #WRc #STEM #EnhancedByEngineering

Happy International Women's Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women in every corner of the globe. And in the world of construction and engineering, women are breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and driving innovation like never before! From designing sustainable infrastructure to pioneering cutting-edge technologies, women are making their mark and shaping a better future for us all. But let's not forget despite their remarkable talent and dedication, women remain underrepresented in construction and engineering fields. In the United States, women make up only about 13% of the engineering workforce, according to the National Science Foundation. It's time to change that statistic. This International Women’s Day let's pledge to support and empower women in engineering. Let's break down barriers, foster inclusive workplaces, and create opportunities for every aspiring engineer, regardless of gender. Together, we can build a more diverse, equitable, and innovative world! #InternationalWomensDay2024 #DynamicCompactionSolutions #WomenInEngineering #WomenInConstruction #EqualityInSTEM

🎉 Celebrating Women in Construction Week 🎉 We are kicking off the festivities by honoring one of our exceptional employees, Kirsten Reff, our Business Development Manager. We caught up with Kirsten to gain insights into her journey and experiences. Here's what she had to say: Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in your field? A: Back in 2008, I applied to a company local to my area with no prior introduction or experience in the modular building or construction industry. I found it to be very diverse, interesting, and challenging, with new opportunities for self-development and learning with every project. I really enjoy working with diverse people to create solutions for each unique application or project. Q: Can you share a rewarding moment/project in your career at Dagard USA? A: There are so many moments…every time I attend a conference and hear about the advances the pharmaceutical industry is making in providing lifesaving medicines, I am reminded just how important our products are in helping the world. It was brought a bit closer to home when doing one of my very first site visits. We had to clear a Geiger count upon exiting our cleanroom as they were using radiopharmaceuticals to specifically target cancer cells in treating and curing their patients. There were photos on the wall of the surviving cancer patients. Q: Have you encountered any challenges as a woman in your profession? How did you overcome them? A: Being a female in a male dominated industry has its challenges. The best action I can take at overcoming diversity is being the best me I can be and educating myself in all aspects of my project and my customers’ needs. Q: Who are some female role models/mentors that have influenced your career? A: A few standouts would be Courtney Skunda Hall and Bo Crouse. Q: What do you think are some important steps towards promoting diversity/inclusion in the workplace? A: Focusing on everyone’s capabilities, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or any other personal differences. I feel that we can focus attention on the qualities of a person, including what makes them unique, interesting, and successful, the less we see differences that might challenge having a strong, positive and effective relationship with them. Everyone should be free of fear to be exactly who they are without any bias/consequences. Q: Can you share a piece of advise or words of encouragement for aspiring women in your field? A: I never regretted working harder….I only regretted not having done what I felt I could have to be better. It’s amazing what consistently putting in just 5% more effort than what is expected can result in. The feeling of accomplishment well outweighs any discomfort in putting in the time and effort. Join us in applauding Kirsten's achievements and celebrating the remarkable women who continue to shape and redefine the construction landscape! 💪🔨 #WomenInConstruction #WomensWeek

On this International Women's Day, we're celebrating the women of Conplant Pty Ltd while acknowledging the incredible strides women have made in construction and engineering! While we've seen progress in educational attainment, there's still room to grow in closing the gap between women in construction and engineering education and their representation in the professional workforce. Despite comprising 20-25% of undergraduate engineering students in Australia, only about 13% of practicing engineers are women, according to Engineers Australia. Globally, women account for only around 10-20% of engineers, according to UNESCO. But here's the positive spin: we recognise the challenge, and we're committed to addressing it head-on! By promoting diversity initiatives, breaking down barriers to entry, and fostering inclusive workplaces, we're paving the way for a future where talent knows no gender! #Conplant #WomenInConstruction #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInSTEM #EqualOpportunity #IWD2024
