⭐ YEAIS winner spotlight! ⭐ Roseanna Edney, winner of the Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability Early Career category for her work on 'Creating a Circular Economy for Plastic'. On her award win and reason for entering, she said: "I'm really excited, it's a bit of shock, but I'm very happy and proud to have got here. I wanted to showcase what I do and what my company (Plastic Energy) are doing to pave the way forward for chemical recycling, creating a circular economy for plastics by recycling end-of-life materials and using the oil created to make new plastic products. This diverts waste from landfill into a circular economy and, compared to mechanical recycling, has lower environmental emissions. "Going forward, I will continue to be involved in the design, commissioning and construction of our sites, improving their operational efficiency and increasing their capacity to really make a dent in the world's plastic problem." HUMAX Networks Makes Inroads into European Market with 'ECO-Design'🌍 HUMAX Networks applies 'Eco-Design' principles to its products and packaging, demonstrating its commitment to a sustainable future. In an effort to select environmentally conscious raw materials, we are actively considering the use of 'recycled resin'♻️ instead of virgin plastic components in our products. 'Recycled resin' is an eco-friendly alternative produced by reprocessing discarded plastics with minimal energy consumption. This approach not only reduces waste but also decreases carbon emissions through energy savings in the reprocessing stage. Additionally, we are exploring the adoption of eco-friendly fabrics and the use of FSC-certified environmentally friendly paper materials. HUMAX Networks is continuously working to discover sustainable materials and collaborating with manufacturers who employ eco-friendly production methods. Through these partnerships, we are conducting research to establish quality standards for eco-design. These sustainable management efforts align with recent environmental regulatory trends in the European market, which is moving towards a society based on carbon neutrality, environmental friendliness, and non-toxic materials.🌱 This initiative will serve as a crucial stepping stone for HUMAX Networks' entry and expansion into the European market. #ECODesign #ESG #Sustainability #EUEnvironmentalRegulations #EnvironmentallyFriendly

Join IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet on 9 February 08:30-10:00 for an international webinar on accelerating design for recycling. As part of a project financed by Vinnova, the Swedish Environmental Institute IVL is organizing a webinar to discuss how to promote design for recycling on an international level. What is design for recycling? Design for recycling is a concept that involves designing plastic products in a way that makes them easier and more efficient to recycle. This can involve using fewer different types of plastic, using easily separable materials, and making products that are easy to sort and process. Why is design for recycling important? Currently, only a small percentage of plastic waste is recycled. This is partly due to the fact that many plastic products are not designed for recycling. Design for recycling can help to improve the recyclability of plastic products and reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills or the environment. What will be discussed at the webinar? - The implications of the Global plastic treaty for design for recycling - How the industry is currently implementing design for recycling - The challenges and opportunities for design for recycling at an international level - How to join forces to accelerate the adoption of design for recycling Who should attend? - Designers and manufacturers of plastic products - Recyclers - Policymakers - Anyone interested in promoting a circular economy for plastics The webinar is free of charge!
