🌍 🍎 We may not have been at Climate Week NYC 2024, but we’ve followed discussions closely—and here’s what stood out. 🤝 This year’s event, ending today, have spotlighted the critical role of non-government actors in helping solve for the climate and nature crisis we face. As Nigar Arpadarai, United Nations Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29, told edie in an interview: "Non-Party actors are leading the charge and proving that ambitious climate action is possible, profitable, and popular." 🪸 A major theme was the mobilisation of capital for nature-based solutions, with a particular emphasis on marine restoration and #biodiversity #conservation. While these areas are essential for both planetary and human health, they often remain underfunded and overshadowed by carbon-focused efforts. With the UK’s vast #coastline, there’s massive potential for projects like oyster bed restoration—the kind of work our friends at Oyster Heaven are championing.
