House members Mike Flood (R) of Nebraska and Troy Carter (D, Louisiana) along with other bipartisan lawmakers have co-sponsored a bill that would direct the Energy Information Agency to include sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the data published by this government service. Called the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Information Act, its intent is to provide more clarity on the increasing production of SAF. #ClimbingFast

Sustainable aviation fuels (#SAF) offer a promising solution for the #aviation industry to address its industrial #CO2 emissions, and waste-to-SAF (WtS) is a critical pathway to pursue. 🌎 Our analysis shows that WtS supply can be sufficient to serve SAF demand until the 2040s at a global level, and into the late 2030s in Europe and North America. How can WtS supplement today’s feedstock-limited SAF production? Explore further in the full study: ➡ https://bit.ly/3Oy79qf #RolandBerger

In the context of the 2.1 bn tons of municipal solid waste generated annually today, expected to roughly double in the next 25 years, every solution to extract value from it, and thus valorize the only growing resource of our planet, counts! One example is waste to aviation fuels - happy to introduce this insightful study conducted by my expert colleagues in the aviation sector! #saf #aviationfuel #wastemanagement #wastesolutions #waste #wastetovalue

More positive climate news: 🌱 Congress has authorized trillions of dollars in new spending for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, through the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The Biden administration has set a target of making 3 billion gallons of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030 and 35 billion gallons by 2050. The IRA created a new, per-gallon tax credit aimed at reducing the cost of SAF. This is huge! Profit margins on SAF are extremely low, so hopefully this will spur more demand and development. https://lnkd.in/gwpUt-ba #climate #sustainableaviationfuel #SAF

Government policy such as mandates are vitally important for the aviation industry to have access to enough SAF to decarbonise. The renewable fuels manufacturing industry is positioning itself, but requires firm demand to commit to investment. #saf #energysecurity #manufacturing #decarbonisation #energytransition

As a #bcorp part of our commitment to social and environmental responsibility has involved tracking and offsetting our #carbonemissions. As a team, we've discussed how to reduce our #emissions. We've started the practice of replacing some short-distance air flights (our biggest emission source) with train travel. Stay tuned for more information on how we are offsetting our emissions! #engineering #2024goals #responsiblebusiness For 2023 here are our results:

⚡ The Climate Change Committee Progress Report to Parliament landed today. The report makes clear that the UK is not on track to meet its targets, with the Labour government inheriting "credible plans" to eradicate only one third of UK carbon emissions required to meet its 2030 targets. ✈️ The CCC noted #Aviation policy is shifting in the right direction with the SAF Mandate. But aviation demand is set to soon exceed pre-pandemic levels. As the report notes, we need to scale up #GreenHydrogen-derived power to liquid (PtL) fuels now. 🚢 Although there is little on #Shipping in this report, last year's report showed a total lack of planning to decarbonise the sector. Since we are still waiting for an updated Clean Maritime Plan, it is safe to assume that this is the state of affairs today as it was a year ago. 🟢 The new #LabourGovernment has a great opportunity to get these sectors on track to meet their climate targets, and propel the country towards a green future. 📢 The aviation industry should pay for sustainable aviation fuel development - NOT the taxpayer.✈️✈️ That's the message we sent to the UK Government along with 20 other CSOs including Transport & Environment (T&E), Aviation Environment Federation, Campaign for Better Transport, Green Alliance, Climate Catalyst and Greenpeace in a joint response to the government’s consultation on the “revenue certainty mechanism” for sustainable aviation fuel. The consultation clearly states that the intention is for the SAF revenue certainty mechanism to be industry-funded. The Government must follow through with this intention. This should mean that the taxpayer is not involved at all - especially in a cost-of-living crisis. Read the response in full here 👇👇 https://lnkd.in/e5r3i2Zv
