Having an 18-year-old daughter with a doctorate is both “humbling” and “inspiring,” says Jimalita Tillman. She’s the mother of Dorothy Jean Tillman II, a Chicago teen who earned a doctoral degree in integrated behavioral health from Arizona State University last year. The younger Tillman was just 17 at the time, the latest in a string of academic achievements — including a bachelor’s degree at age 12 and a master’s degree in environmental science by age 14, both online. Jimalita, a single parent who started home-schooling her daughter around the age of 7, did a lot to facilitate those accomplishments.

Shaping the Future: The Role of Parents in the Society As a society, we face numerous challenges that affect our collective well-being. However, I firmly believe that many of these issues can be traced back to a single root cause: poor parenting. It is my conviction that parents bear the ultimate responsibility for shaping their children's values, beliefs, and behaviors. By taking ownership of this role, we can raise a generation of responsible, empathetic, and capable individuals who will contribute positively to our society. When parents invest time and effort into mentoring and guiding their children, they instill valuable life skills, moral principles, and a strong sense of self-discipline. This, in turn, helps to mitigate the likelihood of behavioral problems, academic underachievement, and social issues that often plague our communities. By shouldering the responsibility of parenting, we can break the cycle of dysfunction and create a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and society as a whole.

Self-love is often sidelined in education and families due to prevailing misconceptions and priority given to academic skills. However, I firmly believe that cultivating self-love should be integrated along with our traditional education system and parenting practices. Here's why - Childhood years shape our self-image. An early introduction to self-love can nurture a healthier self-perception, leading to increased resilience, empathy, and enhanced overall well-being. Self-love, when respected, doesn't breed narcissism but fosters a better understanding and appreciation of oneself, which in return, enables more profound relationships and societal contributions. So, instead of refraining from teaching self-love due to misunderstandings or due to a focus on strictly academic or social skills, let's assure it gets the attention it deserves in our homes and classrooms. What do you think about integrating self-love into the education and family structure? Drop your thoughts below and let's strike a engaging conversation #SelfLoveEducation #ChildhoodDevelopment #ParentingPractices #WellBeing #ResilienceBuilding #EmpathyNurturing #HealthySelfPerception #RelationshipsMatter #SocietalContrib

I'm sharing something today that deeply pained me. I came across a situation where a teenager was punished by his parents by making him stand outside their house. This wasn't a one-time thing; the kid often faces this kind of harsh treatment for not living up to his parents' academic expectations. It's heartbreaking to see such measures being used as 'discipline'. What's more surprising is that these parents are well-educated professionals. I had this notion that we, as a society, had moved past such outdated and harsh disciplinary methods. But here we are, still witnessing them in action. It just goes to show that academic qualifications don't always correlate with emotional intelligence or sound parenting. I firmly believe that discipline should be about teaching/modelling self-discipline, not enforcing obedience through fear of being abandoned or punished. It's about having a conversation with your child, understanding their point of view, and explaining your own. It's about guiding them, not dictating them. Children need to feel empowered to make their own decisions and learn from them, not feel scared of making mistakes. This whole incident has made me think about the kind of adults these children will grow up to be. Are we raising a generation of emotionally scarred individuals? It's crucial to remember that love, understanding, and support are the cornerstones of effective parenting. Being firm is necessary at times, but it should never overshadow the fact that you are there for your child, no matter what. In the end, it's about striking a balance. We want to raise responsible, empathetic adults, and that starts with how we treat them as children. Let's focus on nurturing their hearts and minds in equal measure. #ParentingJourney #EmotionalNurturing #HealthyDiscipline #UnderstandingKids

🦒The Profound Impact of Parent-Child Relationships Our journey is deeply intertwined with the relationships we build with our children. These bonds hold immense significance and shape our existence in ways we might not always recognize. Children, in their essence, are conduits of pure, unfiltered energy that profoundly influence our lives. Exploring this idea from scientific, fantastical, emotional, philosophical, and social perspectives reveals the multifaceted nature of this bond. ⭐️Scientifically, the parent-child relationship is crucial for the psychological and emotional development of both parties. Neuroscience tells us that these bonds alter our brain chemistry, releasing oxytocin and other feel-good hormones that reinforce love and attachment. This connection promotes resilience, empathy, and emotional intelligence in children, laying a foundation for their future interactions. ⭐️Fantastically, children are keepers of wonder and imagination. Their uninhibited creativity and curiosity remind us of life’s limitless possibilities, rekindling our own sense of awe and inspiring us to view the world through a lens of infinite potential. ⭐️Emotionally, children anchor us in the present moment. Their innocence and purity compel us to be more mindful and present. They teach us unconditional love and patience, urging us to become better versions of ourselves. ⭐️Philosophically, the parent-child relationship embodies the cycle of life, growth, and transformation. Children represent the future, a continuation of our legacy, and the embodiment of our hopes and dreams. ⭐️Socially, the way we nurture our children reflects the values of our society. Prioritizing their well-being ensures a more compassionate, empathetic, and progressive future. Communities that invest in their children create a foundation for sustainable growth and innovation. In essence, children are not just passive recipients of our care; they are active participants in our journey, providing us with the energy and motivation to strive for a better future. They are our mirrors, reflecting our strengths and weaknesses, and prompting us to grow. As we move forward, it is crucial to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of our children. By nurturing and appreciating these relationships, we lay the groundwork for a future filled with hope, creativity, and boundless potential. Thank you for example 🙌 #Parenting #ChildDevelopment #EmotionalIntelligence #FutureGenerations #Mindfulness #Community #Empathy

infants transition from learning freely using their internal skills to being confined in an external man-made strategy for harnessing their focus of attention to an outcome. The milestones are elementary school, middle school, high school, college, university, and employment. This education until career has another component of past and present family, community, friendships, and attraction to others creating relationships. Wealth and status are woven through a child's development through their cultural influences. There will be individual transitions throughout this experience and in life the comes that may include marriage, having children, changing jobs, loss of parents, and children, marriage, on and on until the stage of being aged. The beginning, the middle, and the ending. Supporting this living chain of life events has been an adventure. The past decade or so has included elders transitioning before actually transitioning from being on the planet in a physical presence. Persons who have held strong convictions, beliefs, or social status seem to fall the hardest with the recognition that there is something more than their hard worldview. A perspective that doesn't cross over with you. When one crosses over they become the past from which all future springs, even with no children There is the family line. This focus has led to sitting in the space with elders in this transition as they begin to recognize that their ability to focus on all their old ways is dropping off. First comes frustration that goes through the stages of anger stimulated by fear as they have realizations. It's challenging. The quality they are fighting against is acceptance. The quality that is woven throughout the whole chain of living from birth to death, is acceptance. In the aged, it's the choices of strategies that come back to haunt the mental state that dominates the emotional and physical. Early years it was the physical development that shared the functional indentation. At the stage of natural death, it's the smallest portion of function that ruled from school age that begins to break down leaving vulnerability and possibly dependence on others, as in birth and early stages. It has been an educative process to sit with those growing, learning, and transitioning through the cycle of their time. #sttingthroughtransitons #sittingwithdarknightofthesoulexperinces #sittingwithtransformingillusions #groundingintoreality #findingfreedminreality Like Comment Share
