Did you know that EPR schemes are becoming increasingly significant in waste policy and legislation? Most recently, the EU Council invited Member States to explore expanding EPR schemes to more products! At FEAD, we believe that EPR schemes should primarily address market failures and remain focused on eco-design and recyclability. It's essential to maintain a clear role distribution, ensuring that producers don't monopolize the waste management process. 📢 Want to learn more about FEAD's key principles on EPR? CWP introduces new catalogues of solutions. The Catalan Water Partnership is a first level cluster that joins innovative companies and the best knowledge centres for sustainable water management. Catalonia is placed in the Western Mediterranean basin and, thus, water management is a concern for its inhabitants and public authorities. This is why the CWP got accredited as Cluster Management Excellence Gold Label and is a key member of the Water Europe network. Hydroo is a member of the cluster and proud to actively collaborate with it. Recently, the CWP has created a Catalogue of Digital Solutions to support the general use of digital technologies in the integral water cycle management. Additionally, a new Catalogue of solutions and services to fight the recurrent Mediterranean drought conditions appeared. Hydroo water technologies contribute to spread the high-end water solutions provided by our partner companies according to the main strategic axis of the CWP: shared value and cooperation, R&D&I, circular economy, industry 4.0, internationalization and business development worldwide. #hydroo #pumpingsolutions

🥳 We’re chuffed to share that our Advanced Thermal Conversion (ATC) Gasification project has been awarded £2.3m from Ofwat’s Innovation Fund as part of the Water Breakthrough Challenge. ✨ The aim of this innovative project is to prove that gasification of 100% of sewage sludge destroys contaminants such as microplastics and ‘forever chemicals’, preventing them from re-entering the environment, and creates biochar and syngas, which have multiple, environmentally sustainable uses. By converting sewage sludge at high temperatures, the ATC Gasification process not only aims to reduce harmful pollutants but also supports a circular economy by turning the by-products into valuable resources. These include using biochar as a soil improver and in brick manufacturing, and converting syngas into green electricity and even aviation fuel. We are proud to lead this initiative alongside our partners; Enertecgreen Ltd. (ETG), Queen's University Belfast, Carbon Trust, Thames Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water Services, Scottish Water, Uisce Éireann Irish Water, Northern Ireland Water, Southern Water and Wessex Water. 🥰 If you’d like to know more about this project, visit: https://ow.ly/P1Hg50RIbeo For more information about the Water Breakthrough Challenge, visit: https://ow.ly/QEue50RIbep

Dr. Stelios Christofi, Managing Director & Founder, along with Vasilis Poulikakos, R&D Project Manager, and Maria Panagi, R&D Financial Assistant, actively participated in the Kick-Off Meeting held on February 19-20, 2024. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Akrivi Korba, Project Manager on behalf of the Project Coordinator Institute of Communication & Computer Systems (ICCS). The W2W (Wood2Wood Project) approach aims to extract maximum value from CDW and furniture waste by prioritising multiple uses and transformations of wood, according to its composition, the availability of upcycling technologies, and supply chain restrictions. Additionally, the W2W holistic approach will reduce the demand for virgin materials, reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills or incineration facilities, allow for the creation of new value-added products from waste materials, and support the transition towards a circular economy by promoting closed-loop systems where materials are continually repurposed and reused, extending their useful life. eBOS is delighted to take part in the multidisciplinary consortium of 25 European partners.
