What does #Best actually mean in education? How do we quantify it? Results? Awards? Or slick marketing campaigns? Perhaps what is #best for some children and young people is a nightmare for others. Education is increasingly personalised due to the diverse needs of young people and families. Anyone can win an award or title with a whizzy presentation or advertising. Awards dinners don't reflect a school's quality. Spend enough money on advertising and event tickets and see what you #win Impact, student voice, and family experience matter. Not awards that you apply for, but recognition that is earnt due to the stories that other people want to share about you. When awards are driven by these voices, we should pay attention. Schools should inspire, connect, engage, empower, and give hope. The focus should be on high-quality outcomes for children and young people. At Sophia High School High School we have learnt to understand the only thing that matters and, we chose to prioritise impact over slick marketing. Awards on social media are not relevant. Quality assurance matters. And it’s now available as a metric to measure impact. People choose based on impact. They choose based on experience.
