Ferrero just published its latest #sustainability report. The press release doesn’t mention #climatechange. I can see why: emissions in all scopes increased in the most recent year (see image). This is a chocolate company that has undoubtedly done some great work on sourcing commodities and supply chain transparency. So why try and deceive us by omitting such important information (people will check)? The CEO Lapo Civiletti’s summary makes everything seem rosy on climate (scope 1 and 2 down against the baseline) but ignores scope 3 (which accounts for 93%) and which need to fall by 40+% by 2030 to meet its Science Based Targets initiative commitment. CEOs need to use their forewords in these reports to be honest. Tell us you’re struggling because all food companies are. Then we can hopefully move forward into finding solutions.
