This past weekend, CSB was proud to sponsor The Salvation Army Iowa Capital Area Command Christmas in July event. We loved being a part of such a fun family event that helped shine a light on important resources and supports available to all in our community. Santa was joined by lots of his friends, including the CSB Changemakers and our friendly neighborhood Spiderman! #communityfirst #volunteer #CSBChangemakers Member FDIC.

It's #NationalDonutDay! What's your favorite kind of donut? Let us know in the comments. Every year on the first Friday of June, Americans celebrate National Donut Day to honor the Salvation Army Lassies, the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the First World War to lift their spirits. This tradition began in Chicago in 1938. We "donut" know what we would do without all of our wonderful clients! #GJMAccounting #accountingandaccountants #smallbusiness

Executive Non-Profit Leader Specializing in Revenue Growth, Board and Team Building and Leadership Development
Today, on the National Day of Service and Remembrance, we pause to reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our country’s history. It’s a moment to remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who responded with unwavering courage, and recognize the unity that moved a nation. I, like so many, vividly remember where I was (NYC) on that fateful day. The shock, the disbelief, and the deep sense of grief remain etched in my memory. But so too does the incredible strength and unity that emerged in its aftermath. September 11th is more than a day of remembrance—it’s a call to action. It’s a chance to give back, to embody the spirit of resilience, and to support those who continue to serve. Whether through simple acts of kindness, volunteering, or organizing community events, we can all make a difference. Join us on this journey: Volunteer: Help us assemble Care Packages for our Military and First Responders. Organize: Lead a service event in your community. As we honor the memory of those we lost, let’s come together in service, kindness, and unity. 👉 How will you participate in this National Day of Service? #911Day #NationalDayOfService #NeverForget #Service #Volunteer

In widowhood, there are three categories of support: military, civilian, and international. After researching all U.S. nonprofits serving widows on Candid and GuideStar, it's evident that there is a hierarchy when it comes to where the money travels. + Military widows, who make up the smallest percentage of U.S. widows, receive the most resources. + International widows, spread across many different countries, also receive U.S. support. + Unfortunately, civilian widows, who make up the largest percentage of U.S. #widows, receive the least amount of funding despite needing the most resources. These are the myths vs. realities of widow support and advocacy. It's clear that until this funding gap is addressed by foundations and funders, the divide between widows and support will remain significant. Let's work together to ensure that all widows, regardless of their category, receive the resources they need during this difficult time. Modern Widows Club operates on a foundation of evidence-based programs and services that have demonstrated significant and successful outcomes, leading to meaningful social impact. These initiatives are specially designed to cater to the needs of widows, offering support that is not only effective but also cost-efficient. Through these programs, Modern Widows Club is able to extend its reach to a greater number of women, ensuring that each individual receives the highest quality of support and assistance. When compared to other causes focused on women, such as efforts to serve survivors of #domesticviolence and #humantrafficking, Modern Widows Club's approach stands out for its lower operational costs and higher program efficacy. This strategic focus ensures that resources are utilized in the most impactful way, thereby maximizing the positive change it brings to the lives of widows and, by extension, the broader community. In fact, the global neglect of widow survivors make them more susceptible to domestic violence in new relationships and their daughters, a high target vulnerable for human trafficking. All symptoms of not caring for widows well. One million dollars spent on #widowsupport impacts 1000x more women and their families than any other female cause, because widow support is the largest women's cause worldwide with 300 million widows caring for 600 million fatherless children. #WidowSupport #NonprofitFunding #MilitaryWidows #InternationalWidows #CivilianWidows #modernwidowsclub #womenshealth #facts #compassion #impact

People over everything. This was a unit out of Fort Campbell, KY that was preparing for homecoming. Their soldiers were deployed but headed home very soon - mom’s, dad’s, husbands, wives. Unit A had ALL the things to buckle down on - cleaning the house for the big “Welcome Home”, prepping items for single soldiers headed to barracks, sign making, communicating timelines to families eagerly waiting for THE day, etc. Across post… Another unit was preparing for deployment. Unit B was dreading the “Goodbye”, getting all the POA’s in order, attempting to explain what’s about to happen to little ones, & just trying to hold it all together. Unit A had priorities & they were on a time crunch. Instead of focusing on those homecoming priorities, they chose to pause & hold Unit B in their arms in support of what they were about to face. Unit A quality checked 160 Operation Gratitude Battalion Buddies to directly deliver to the little ones of Unit B in a show of respect, understanding, …& Love. These moments where we lift each other up… These moments when we put our own lives on pause to help another in theirs… These moments where we just focus on supporting someone else through some really, really rough times… These moments where we can create full circles & opportunities to help others share their hearts & expand their support… These are the moments it’s all about. These are the moments I live for. These are the moments I can’t wait to make more of. These specific Operation Gratitude Battalion Buddies were assembled by the incredible folks at Humana & O'Melveny & Myers LLP in #Louisville , KY. Unit A had received Battalion Buddies months prior as they prepared for their deployment. When presented with the opportunity to support a sister unit, they were absolutely ecstatic! These are some of the real stories & real people we support when corporations, businesses, groups, & volunteers all across the nation come together & host an Operation Gratitude engagement opportunity. These are the stories worth telling.❤️ #operationgratitude #fortcampbell #remembereveryonedeployed #nonprofit #giveback #employeeengagement #csr #volunteer #employeeexperience #socialresponsibility

CJ3 FOUNDATION ADVOCACY INITIATIVE - The CJ3 Foundation advocates for the communities we serve , our Nation’s wounded Heroes – Wounded/Disabled U.S. Military Service Members, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and Emergency/First Responders. Below are two (2) issues we are working with Legislators to address: ISSUE 1: "U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Chiropractic Care Issue". The CJ3 Foundation, partnered with the Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association (VCA) and the Loudoun County Virginia Community Veteran Engagement Board (LCCVEB), is requesting your assistance with an issue regarding U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Chiropractic Care. We are advocating for a paradigm shift in chiropractic care for disabled Veterans from “episodic” to “maintenance” care. ISSUE 2: "Service Dogs Assisting Veterans (SAVES) Act and Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) for Veterans Therapy Act." There is a glaring issue with the PAWS Act that subsequently carried over into the SAVES Act that unintentionally discriminates against numerous Veteran nonprofit organizations, thereby, rendering these phenomenally assistive organizations ineligible from participation. Our recommendation is to amend the legislation to include eligibility for non-profit organizations that contract with and/or are partnered with 'for-profit' professional companies who specialize in training service dogs. Doing so allows our Veterans to benefit from a variety of organizations who provide an invaluable service to those who deserve it most. #cj3foundation

As a veteran, I understand that Memorial Day can be a bit confusing to navigate. It’s more than just a long weekend; it’s a time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. If you're wondering how to truly celebrate Memorial Day tomorrow, here are a few meaningful ways: 🇺🇸Visit a Memorial or Cemetery: Pay your respects by visiting a local memorial or cemetery. Placing flowers or flags on the graves of fallen soldiers is a powerful gesture of remembrance. 🇺🇸Attend a Memorial Day Ceremony: Many communities hold ceremonies or parades to honor the fallen. Participating in these events can be a heartfelt way to show your respect and gratitude. 🇺🇸Pause for a Moment of Silence: At 3 PM local time, join the National Moment of Remembrance. It’s a small act, but a collective pause can have a big impact. 🇺🇸Support Veterans: Consider donating to organizations that support veterans and their families. It’s a way to give back and ensure that their legacy lives on through continued support. 🇺🇸Share Stories and Memories: If you know a veteran or have family members who served, take the time to listen to their stories or share memories of those who are no longer with us. 🇺🇸Display the Flag: Fly the American flag at half-staff until noon, then raise it to full staff until sunset. It’s a traditional way to honor those who have fallen in the morning and salute living veterans in the afternoon. Remember, Memorial Day is about more than barbecues and beach trips (though I love those too!). It's a day to reflect, honor, and remember. #supportourveterans #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransupport #veteranlife #specialforces #supportourtroops
