It's amazing to see what Agustin has done with his career. How do can there be more intersection from talent in the NGO space (conservation/climate/ natural asset management be it forests,oceans,soil) and the investment sector? This not only helps to create more authentic products to channel to interested investors, and business partners but if done well speeds the awareness of various asset owners investing in those funds.

Internal Day of Forest, also known as International Day of Forests, is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of forests and trees worldwide. Recognized by the United Nations, it serves as a platform to promote conservation efforts, sustainable management practices, and the significance of forests in biodiversity, climate regulation, and human well-being. The theme of the 2024 International Day of Forests is “Forests and Innovation”. Purpose:👉 Raise awareness: Highlight the vital role of forests in sustaining life on Earth. Promote conservation: Advocate for the protection and preservation of forests and their biodiversity. Sustainable management: Encourage responsible forest management practices to ensure long-term ecological balance. Have you heard of Conservation Basic Income? 💸💸💸 Biodiversity conservation that reverses the global negative nature trend should be inclusive, fair, and equitable. Conservation Basic Income (CBI) is a novel idea that provides unconditional cash transfers for people living in conservation areas. And it could be key to empowering communities to work in harmony with nature worldwide. CBI builds on Universal Basic Income (UBI) - which does not usually take into account environmental issues - and Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) - which in practice often fail to prevent biodiversity loss and alleviate poverty. Implementing a Conservation Basic Income would offer financial support for individuals or communities that actively engage in conservation efforts, while encouraging others to do the same. A Conservation Basic Income could: 1. Create a financial incentive for conservation 🌳 2. Stimulate community engagement 👩🌾 3. Promote social equity 🤝 4. Support long-term initiatives 🙌 Introducing a Conservation Basic Income could encourage a shift towards more sustainable land management worldwide. Great to see Canada recognizing the centrality of Indigenous-led conservation in its 2030 Nature Strategy that was announced today. The strategy also outlines how recognizing Indigenous leadership in nature conservation and stewardship, as well as strengthening Nation-to-Nation partnerships is crucial not only for reversing biodiversity loss, but also for advancing reconciliation & building a better future for all. The strategy also highlights the value of Guardians programs, which are generating profound benefits all across the country–on the land but also for the health & wellbeing of communities. Australia will host the first Global Nature Positive Summit at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on 8-10 October 2024. Nature protection and repair is an immense job. Government funding has an important role to play. But the scale of the challenge means that governments can’t do the job alone. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework sets a target of US$200 billion funding per year to spend on nature repair by 2030. At the Summit the best environmental and financial minds from every continent will showcase successful conservation and restoration activities. There will be guidelines on how these examples can be used to unlock new investment streams. The Summit will highlight the importance of clear and consistent policy settings. This aims to provide businesses the ability to invest in nature positive projects with confidence, and to be able to measure the value of these investments transparently and robustly. 

Beautiful, complex and absolutely vital for the well-being of all life, biodiversity is what makes our planet so incredible. More than ever, we’re experiencing the negative impacts of biodiversity loss across Canada and throughout the world. But there’s still so much each of us can do to change this. The theme for this year’s International Day of Biological Diversity is “Be part of the Plan” — a call to action for individuals, communities, governments and businesses to support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Every single person has the power to help halt and reverse biodiversity loss, so we encourage you to find ways you can contribute, collaborate, and show up for the lands, waters, plants and animals we all love. Few weeks ago I got involved in the Greenpeace Czech Republic campaign for the protection of old forests as a photographer. Here are a few thoughts on nature conservation I've had since then - ➡️ Conserving nature in protected areas ONLY is nonsense. Even forests destined for logging (this is the case of the old Czech forests from Greenpeace campaign) can and do have a crucial function in climate adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity and should therefore be protected. And yes, some of the trees can still be logged and the land owners can still make money. ➡️ We have to erase that hard line between “protected” and “unprotected” areas. Isolated islands of nature in national parks are a sad victory, if the rest of the landscape turns to dust (quite literally). ➡️ No need to reinvent the wheel. Traditional techniques often work very well even in the current context. Modern science has done the rest. Look up agroforestry, regenerative farming or different ways of sensitive timber logging. We don't need to compromise protection of biodiversity etc. vs production.
