ARC is proud to announce a significant achievement in Oxfordshire's science and technology sector. In 2023, our campuses, ARC Oxford and Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, leased over 230,000 sq. ft of laboratory and office space, representing more than 50% of the county's market uptake. This milestone underscores our commitment to supporting the region's thriving innovation ecosystem. We welcomed over 25 new members last year, expanding our network to over 300 leading science and innovation organisations and national research facilities. Despite broader macroeconomic challenges, the demand for laboratory space remained resilient, reflecting the continued growth and maturation of Oxfordshire's ecosystem. Our campuses played a pivotal role in this development, with notable transactions including a 145,000 sq. ft pre-let to Moderna for their UK base, The Moderna Innovation and Technology Centre (MITC). ARC's dedication to fostering innovation is further evidenced by the diverse range of science organisations relocating to our campuses, including MiroBio Ltd, now part of Gilead Sciences, FluoRok, and OMass Therapeutics. This not only enhances collaboration and breakthroughs in science but also solidifies our campuses as key contributors to Oxford's position as a global centre of excellence in science and technology. Stuart Grant, Chief Executive at ARC, emphasised our focus on delivering flexible lab space and a best-in-class member programme to support and inspire our members in their world-changing science endeavours. With a commitment from Brookfield Asset Management to invest over £1 billion in our Oxfordshire campuses, we are set to double our Oxford City space, attracting additional science and tech organisations and further accelerating innovation. This investment will introduce new laboratories, cleanrooms, offices, and R&D facilities, supporting the future growth of our members and the broader scientific community. ARC's expansion and the addition of state-of-the-art facilities are integral to our mission of enabling groundbreaking science and technology advancements. We look forward to continuing to drive innovation and support the dynamic ecosystem in Oxfordshire. https://lnkd.in/eTvue-bX #innovation #scienceandtechnology #investmentinnovation #labspace #oxford #oxfordshire

A recent article for The Guardian calls for a comprehensive strategy from the government to support life sciences in the UK, including more lab space 🧪 Jane Kennedy, our Chief Business Officer, responds: “The UK is home to some of the most innovative companies in the world. Here at Discovery Park, we’re excited by all the companies on our site and around Kent deploying the latest scientific developments to tackle major global challenges and it’s vital that we keep building on this. “We need a clear strategy to support investment in the UK’s life science industry as a whole, and it’s important that this isn’t purely focused on the Golden Triangle. Whilst this is an exciting area, we must not overlook the rest of the UK when the government outlines its economic plans, and we hope to see a diverse plan that is designed to boost innovation and commercialisation nationally from today’s budget.” Read the full article here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ddiBX4nj #LabSpace #LifeScience #Innovation #Research #AutumnBudget #Science #Kent #UK #Investment

🔬 Science Sum up: July 8-12 The second week of the second summer month has been surprisingly intense for the life sciences real estate sector. The buzz begun in South Cambridgeshire where Mission Street has 'topped out' phase two of The Press in Foxton, with Artem Korolev and Richard Warwick filling the last structural concrete in the building. The new 100,000 sq ft science and innovation campus is expected to co-locate scale-ups with established science and technology companies. In the meantime, in Sawston, CANMOOR and Tristan Capital Partners are readying to kick off construction of the second phase of Accelerator Park, comprising 86,000 sq ft of research and development, office and lab space. Sam Walker says: “We are delighted to have been given the green light to push forward with the development of three new mid-tech units.” London has picked up the vibe with Royal College of Physicians and Impact Hub London staying crowded mid-week for the events showcasing the best lab facilities the UK capital has to offer. MedCity alongside London & Partners, backed by ARC | Advanced Research Clusters, Reef Group, Mitsui Fudosan, Pioneer Group, Oxford Properties Group, and British Land have explored trends in London’s lab space, concluding that the city remains a reputable location for cutting edge research and innovation in life sciences. The findings were underpinned by The Francis Crick Institute shedding a light on its new facilities at both Tribeca and Regent’s Place. This is going to be the institutes first expansion outside of its 1m sq ft hub next to The British Library where it expects to foster and retain early-stage companies in the sector. Activity outside the Golden Triangle was marked by a call for occupiers at Hexagon Tower in Greater Manchester. Pioneer Group has tasked Carter Jonas and Track Real Estate to make half glass full at the recently refurbished 165,000 sq ft building. EG will keep its eyes on incoming neighbours for Intertek, Lonza and Fresenius Kabi, and looking forward to seeing what next week will bring in the bag for the sector. #lifesciences #realestate #summary #activity #outlook #goldentriangle
