Our experts’ specialized knowledge in building high-standard laboratories and manufacturing facilities came in handy as we worked on the interior fit-out of this 162,000-square-foot facility focused on the research and development, manufacturing, and quality control of antibodies and dyes. The facility required unique solutions to address the product’s light sensitivity requirements plus a rigorous air handling system to accommodate ISO-8 classifications. Congratulations, Ultragenyx! The FDA recently agreed with Ultragenyx that cerebral spinal fluid heparan sulfate can be a surrogate endpoint for Sanfilippo Syndrome. This can now be used in Ultragenyx’s biologics license application as the company seeks accelerated approval for its gene therapy to treat the rare disease. It’s been a privilege to partner with Ultragenyx by designing the facility that will produce these treatments. Here’s to helping their goal of treating rare and ultrarare diseases in our world! Designing a space that will accommodate those who will use it is the main objective of looking at building design through a DEI lens. To close out Pride Month, our Out+Allies employee resource group gathered to discuss ways to think inclusively when designing building spaces - from offices to labs to cleanrooms. Whether it's how color usage can be disruptive or exclusive to considering how sound may affect a neurodivergent individual to how glass stairs can make people uncomfortable, these seemingly small details can make a huge difference when it comes to creating inclusive and accessible workspaces for all people. #PrideMonth #Pride #DEI #CRBLife
