Understanding the difference between 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is crucial in research, yet many get it wrong! 🔗𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: When two variables move together, but one doesn’t necessarily cause the other. For example, ice cream sales and sunburn cases increase at the same time, but ice cream doesn’t cause sunburn! 🌞🍦 💥 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: This is when one variable directly causes a change in another. In healthcare, identifying causality is crucial for treatments. For example, smoking causes lung cancer, a proven causal relationship backed by research. ✅ What you should know: Just because two things are linked (correlated) doesn’t mean one is the reason for the other. To prove causation, you need rigorous study designs like randomized controlled trials. 🚀 If you're struggling with research terminology like this, our 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 & 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝟏𝟎𝟏 group coaching program will make these concepts crystal clear!
