🌍 Empowering the Next Generation of Nonproliferation Experts! On 2 September, the second session of the Research Fellowship, titled “CTBTO Youth Group (CYG) – Opportunities for the New Generation of Nonproliferation Experts” kicked off with an insightful workshop focused on the CYG and fellowship opportunities available for a “new generation” of nonproliferation and nuclear experts. We were honored to have alumni from the 2021-2023 CTBTO Research Fellowship, including Fateme Fazel (Iran), Shinichi Hirao (Japan), Qiyang Niu (China), as well as founding members of the CYG including Asya Shavrova (Russia) and Sahil V. Shah (United States/United Kingdom) who shared their inspiring stories, experiences, and also offered invaluable guidance to the fellows. The second part of the meeting was a productive working session where Anton Khlopkov (CENESS) and Rajaa Gacem van Moorsel (CTBTO) provided detailed information about the fellowship course agenda and the upcoming research papers. This fellowship underscored the importance of nurturing the next generation of experts committed to global security and nonproliferation. We look forward to seeing how these young leaders will contribute to a safer world! #Nonproliferation #CTBTO #CYG #ResearchFellowship #GlobalSecurity #NuclearExperts #Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization - CTBTO

Invest Building Fusion energy, space and maritime propulsion systems, Your talk is Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fails to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what news is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fission fuel shortage is increasingly real, as linked below. https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr

QUESTION: Tetsuya Theodore X was residing in Kokura during World War II. Kokura was the primary target for the "Fat Man" plutonium bomb, but on the morning of August 9, 1945, the city was obscured by clouds and smoke from the neighboring city of Yahata, which had been firebombed the day before. As a result, the bomb was dropped on the secondary target, Nagasaki. Studying the damage caused by the nuclear explosions contributed to X's understanding of downbursts and microbursts as "starbursts" of wind hitting the Earth's surface and spreading out. *What Y was thus introduced in 1971 by X of (and at) the University of Chicago, in collaboration with Allen Pearson, head of the NSSFC, named after X ?** *Who is X ?* Note - Y was updated in 1973. On February 1, 2007, Y was decommissioned, and the Enhanced version was introduced in the United States. Y ranges from "light" to "incredible".

But which nuclear fission or fusion?
As a national laboratory, our connections with universities are vital to driving UK innovation. Last week, we established a strategic collaboration with the University of Leicester at the Space Park Leicester to continue our work on #RadioisotopePowerSystems for #space and explore opportunities to support education and #NuclearCareers in the space industry, joint research activity and establishing an international profile for nuclear research and expertise. Professor Paul Howarth, Chief Executive Officer of National Nuclear Laboratory, said: “I am delighted to celebrate and formalise the National Nuclear Laboratory’s strategic collaboration with the University of Leicester that commenced over ten years ago. The development of our existing relationship with the University demonstrates our commitment to driving nuclear-relevant research, skills, and capabilities in the Midlands and across the UK. This strategic collaboration will enable us to strengthen our joint capability in the nuclear fuel cycle and its application to space exploration and health and nuclear medicine, whilst providing a firm basis for investigating other joint research topics.” Professor Nishan Canagarajah President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leicester, said: “Exploring the new frontiers of our universe requires innovative thinking, diverse expertise and collaboration across industry and academia. Space Park Leicester was established to foster such collaborations and I am delighted to see that in action through our partnership with the National Nuclear Laboratory, which not only cements Leicester’s place in the space economy as Britain’s Space City but also prepares our students for the space careers of the future.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/epeDNVDp #SpaceExploration #SpaceBatteries #Radioisotopes #NuclearMedicine

Together we are stronger. The benefits of being a smaller organization are many and when they can be retained at the same time as we collaborate with others, both as small and larger, so much can be accomplished. In the picture below you see representation of the 26 partners in the European project COUNTERACT as we met to kick-off year two of our four year project visiting the coordinating part CEA Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives in Paris. The project aims to reinforce the European Union’s preparedness for nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical (#NRBC) threats. In the sub-projects where CR contributes we get to collaborate mainly with the Norwegian defence research establishment Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt - FFI, the company SoftOx Solutions AS but also academic groups in Denmark, France, Poland and Ireland. In this project we get to contribute with expertise and experience helpful for formulation challenges, material selection, analytical method development and stability studies as well as supplying our partners with the material needed for their expert areas. From CR, the project is led by Frida Terne (project management) and Henrik Almqvist (scientific responsibility). If you are considering a larger more strategic development and look for a smart partner, don't hesitate to contact us for a first discussion. If we believe in the cause and that we can contribute, we could do great things #together. European Defence Fund #antimicrobialresistance #antiviral

During World War II, the United States initiated the Manhattan Project, a secret mission to develop atomic weapons before Nazi Germany could. With key sites in Oak Ridge, TN, Hanford, WA, and Los Alamos, NM, the project brought together top scientists, led by J. Robert Oppenheimer. This massive effort was driven by a sense of urgency after physicists Leo Szilard and Albert Einstein warned President Roosevelt of the potential for Germany to create an "extremely powerful bomb." What made the project fascinating was its sheer scale and the unprecedented collaboration between military, scientific, and industrial forces across the country. At Oak Ridge, TN, uranium was enriched through complex and untested processes, while Hanford, WA, became the site of massive reactors producing plutonium—a newly discovered element crucial for one of the bomb designs. In spite of the unproven nature of the methods, the project continued, with each site playing a critical role in the final outcome. The secrecy was so intense that many of the workers had no idea what they were contributing to. The first successful test of an atomic bomb, known as the Trinity Test, took place in July 1945 in New Mexico. The bombs developed by the Manhattan Project were later used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bringing an end to World War II and introducing a new era of nuclear power. At the same time, complex moral questions arose from such transformative technology. #TheManhattanProject #Oppenheimer #ww2 #WeRemember
