Where do your items go? Items gathered through our collection process undergo meticulous sorting and processing by our recycling partners, Loftex Home - USA and Renewcell. Within this comprehensive system, a significant portion of clothing is either designated for reuse through donation or sale. These items find a second life, benefiting others or contributing to charitable causes. The recyclable items, on the other hand, are reintegrated into the production cycle as textiles for crafting new clothing. This sustainable approach minimizes waste and promotes a circular economy, where materials are repurposed to extend their lifespan. Even the smaller fraction of donations that may not be suitable for recycling don’t go to waste. Instead, these items are repurposed as stuffing or insulation, ensuring they serve a practical purpose rather than contributing to environmental harm. In our commitment to sustainability, we take pride in the fact that none of the clothing collected ends up in a landfill. By implementing these eco-friendly practices, we strive to make a positive impact on both the environment and communities in need.

I am probably going to embarrass our Glass4Good team with this post. Not to worry, though, it's the good kind of "embarrass."           Glass4Good is one of our favorite initiatives. @Elizabeth @Sammy @Bob and the rest of the dream team behind the scenes have turned #Glass4Good into a multi-community initiative. They brought to life an idea about how to recycle differently from whole cloth.   These three build these community glass recycling programs from scratch, and usually do it in the communities that don’t have access to glass recycling. Since its start in 2021, Glass4Good has collected more than 320 tons of glass in our plant communities. That’s the equivalent to:   ✅ Recycling 1.5 million beer bottles ✅ Recycling 800,000 wine bottles ✅ Saving 111,000 kg of CO2   Not only do we provide people a way to recycle this valuable material and get more quality glass to return to our process, but O-I sets these up to make a charitable donation to the community’s United Way (the more glass recycled, the higher the donation) to support local community need.   It is simply amazing what a team of determined, passionate people can do together. I'm so proud of them and what they have done and are doing. Their future work is going to be awesome.   G4G is the ultimate example of our sustainability vision in action: using collaboration to create the balance that represents the concept of sustainability. Always striving to find just the right harmony among our operations and the products we make, the current and future needs of our communities, the planet, and our collective prosperity.   Improving recycling requires a supply chain full of invested and motivated stakeholders. Glass4Good is one of several initiatives we’re building to increase recycled content in the bottles we produce.
