CWP's ultra-large-scale green hydrogen project in Newfoundland and Labrador has reached another milestone with the signing of an MoU with the Port of Corner Brook, to explore opportunities related to the 5 GW hub. The focus of project Gwinya will be a green HBI plant within the Port of Corner Brook, taking advantage of Newfoundland and Labrador's world-class wind resource to accelerate decarbonization of the global steel industry. As CWP's Business and Development Manager (Hydrogen) Steve Delaney emphasized: "We are committed to developing this project in continuous consultation with local communities, First Nations and other stakeholders, ensuring the project aligns with regional development goals and its benefits extend beyond the energy transition.” With the support of the Port, this transformative initiative is aimed to promote economic growth and environmental sustainability in the region, creating secondary industries, jobs and opportunities. Work to start on Teesside and Merseyside carbon capture schemes The government has pledged nearly £22bn for projects to capture and store carbon emissions from energy, industry and boost hydrogen production over 25 years. The funding commitment will kick-start two carbon capture cluster schemes on Merseyside and Teesside, promising to create thousands on construction jobs in the North The highly anticipated £4bn Net Zero Teesside project – led by bp and Equinor – promises to sustain 3,000 construction in the region. Today’s confirmation of Government support for the big carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) facility at Teesworks will allow work to start by the end of this year to allow operations to begin in 2027. The proposed power station will generate up to 860MW of low carbon electricity while up to two million tonnes of CO2 emissions from it will be captured each year. This captured CO2 will then be transported by the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) by pipeline to a geological storage site under the North Sea, where it will be permanently and safely stored.

Founder & CEO - Rux Energy | Accelerating decarb for the world's maritime, trucking, rail and aviation fleets using advanced hydrogen storage
Proud and humbled to be selected by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water as one of the Australia-UK Renewable Hydrogen Innovation Partnership Program lead projects in partnership with our Innovate UK funded sister project led by Matt Candy and his team at Steamology in partnership with Freeport East, Chartwell Marine Ltd, National Composites Centre, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, DUODRIVE LIMITED - Project HyZEM (Hydrogen for Zero Emissions Maritime). Project HyZEM represents a major bridge between next generation hydrogen storage systems (lead by us at Rux Energy) and next generation high-torque hydrogen power systems with our focus on workboats like tugs and crew transfer vessels (CTVs). Tugs and CTVs are little boats with enormous engines, hungry for enormous amounts of fuel, so solving efficiency, safety and cost of hydrogen for these vessels is going to have deep decarbonisation impact. HyZEM also represents a major bridge between Australia and the UK, two small(ish?) but wave making countries that absolutely punch above our weight on breakthrough technologies, particularly in decarb and maritime. Growing the bilateral linkage between Australia and UK is a key strategic priority for Rux. Our focus is on building deep, long-term, trusted partnership alignment with Australia's strategic friends, so we can together build solutions to mission critical challenges shared by both seafaring nations. Finally, the project will further proves something we at Rux have always believed - that collaboration is the fastest path to zero carbon. It's remarkable what a bunch of SME companies can do together, at speed. Our agility and our shared values propel us forward. We can't wait to share the knowledge from this major collaborative project over the next two years. #hydrogen #maritime #decarbonization #hardtoabate #zerocarbon #shipping #netzero #hydrogenstorage Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Austrade Europe, UK and Israel | Australian Trade and Investment Commission Austrade Southeast Asia | Australian Trade and Investment Commission Austrade South Asia | Australian Trade and Investment Commission Austrade North America | Australian Trade and Investment Commission Austrade Middle East, Africa and Pakistan | Australian Trade and Investment Commission Investment NSW NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Steven Wilson Robert Edge Ying Xie Cranfield University University of Sydney UNSW University of Suffolk ANSTO Katherine Morrison Marius Bosch Marlene Kanga AO FTSE FREng FAICD Bill Sayer
♻ Freeport East is delighted to be working with partners across the globe to support the transition to green hydrogen and is pleased to announce new million pound funding for an international green hydrogen project under the UK-Australia Renewable Hydrogen Innovation Partnerships Programme. The project will receive £1.44 million from Innovate UK and a similar sum from Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and aims to drive decarbonisation in the maritime sector. 🔄 The partnership includes Steamology as lead, National Composites Centre (NCC), DUODRIVE LIMITED, Chartwell Marine Ltd and The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE). The Australian sister project is led by Rux Energy Australia. Steve Beel, Chief Executive of Freeport East, said: “This news highlights the rapid innovation-driven growth occurring within the Freeport and marks the third consortium funding success Freeport East has achieved in the past year. Freeport East is demonstrating how we can be an enabler of green technology solutions and support UK businesses to succeed overseas. These innovations will also support our broader efforts to drive transport decarbonisation at both the local and international scale” #FDI #greenhydrogen #decarbonisation #maritime Essex County Council Suffolk County Council University of Essex Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils Tendring District Council Hutchison Ports (UK) Gateway 14, Stowmarket East Suffolk Council Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Ivan Henderson Lesley Wagland Rachel Eburne Robert Singh PORT OF FELIXSTOWE LIMITED Maritime Transport Ltd Admin UKMPG British Ports Association Connected Places Catapult https://lnkd.in/eSX8Fvui

Sweden has pioneered the shift to green steel production by leveraging green hydrogen as a fuel, driven by its commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. The country’s HYBRIT initiative, a collaboration between SSAB, LKAB, and Vattenfall, is at the forefront of this transition. By replacing traditional coal-based blast furnaces with hydrogen-based direct reduction, Sweden has made significant strides in producing fossil-free steel. The government's strong support, including funding and favorable policies, coupled with the private sector's innovation and commitment to decarbonization, has been crucial. Sweden's robust renewable energy infrastructure, particularly in wind and hydroelectric power, ensures a steady supply of green hydrogen, making the process viable and scalable. Other countries can learn from Sweden by fostering public-private partnerships, investing in renewable energy infrastructure, and creating clear regulatory frameworks that support innovation in green technologies. By prioritizing sustainability and aligning national policies with global climate goals, countries can replicate Sweden's success in transforming energy-intensive industries like steel production.

Another positive milestone for $MCI's Flin Flon Clean Hydrogen Hub (FFCEH) project. Today we announced an MOU with Arctic Gateway Group, (AGG), an indigenous and northern communities-owned transportation and logistics company that that owns the Hudson Bay Railway and Port of Churchill infrastructure assets in northern Manitoba. The purpose of the MOU is to jointly explore and, if appropriate, pursue joint initiatives to enhance our respective operations and promote efficiency in the transportation, distribution, and export of green hydrogen and/or hydrogen carriers and other biofuels. see link-> https://lnkd.in/dj_PWqRy This on the heals of AGG's announcement of another $60 million in provincial and federal funding for ongoing refurbishment of rail and port infrastructure. see link -> https://lnkd.in/dWjS2BZu Suffice to say we believe we are well-positioned for multi-decade secular growth driven by the energy transition and this MOU is another milestone as advance the FFCEH project.
