This post is for anyone who feels like they've neglected certain aspects of their lives and now believe it's too late to pursue their dreams. In this post, I’d like to share how my recent visit to New York City led me to experience the High Line which was once deemed obsolete and destined for demolition. The High Line is a former railway track that was turned into an elevated park in New York City. It is a silent witness to history that also symbolizes the transformation and redefinition of significance. It's original purpose of being a railway track has faded away, yet, amidst the abandoned trail, a determined community was able to breathe new life into forgotten steel and concrete, transforming what was once an eyesore into a breathtaking oasis. The community rallied together to repurpose the High Line, creating this amazingly beautiful 1.45-mile-long greenway park featuring 500+ species of plants and trees. On top of public space and gardens, the High Line is home to a diverse suite of public programs, community and teen engagement, and world-class artwork and performances, free and open to all. What an inspiring reminder that no matter how long it’s been since we last felt “alive”, “in use”, or “functional”, it’s never too late to make a transformation in our lives. We can always transform what “was” into something “new and different.” No matter how long we've wandered in the shadows, no matter how distant the echoes of purpose may seem, we hold within us the power to rewrite our narrative. Just as the High Line blossomed from barrenness to beauty, so too can we breathe new life into the forgotten corners of our soul. And hey, it is really hard to find your purpose and reinvent yourself if you've spent years feeling defeated and hopeless. If you're someone who would benefit from some one-on-one coaching, my free, virtual consultations are open. I'd love to see how we could bring to life your purpose and activate your narrative again. Let's see what we can do together. Family Man ★ Business Founder ★ Property Investor & Developer ★ Mentor ★ Philanthropist★ Accredited Business Value Builder
Have you ever had a moment when everything just clicked and you knew you needed to make a change? 💡 I spent a decade as the Managing Director in our family's engineering business, focusing on designing parts for commercial vehicles. But when our second child was born, joining her older brother who has special needs, I found myself questioning the impact of my work. One day, back at work, designing yet another roof rack, I realised I was creating products that felt disconnected from the real changes I wanted to see in the world. This realisation came at a time when my family needed me more, and the unpredictable nature of the engineering market made it tough to manage. Simultaneously, my experience building our property portfolio had shown me a more stable path that not only provided for our family but also offered the potential to truly make a difference. 🏠 Housing profoundly affects quality of life, especially for families with special needs children like ours. With this in mind, I shifted my focus to the property business, specifically to create better living solutions for those in need. Today, we're working with supported living providers to create homes that truly serve their residents' needs, including a project that will provide a stable home for someone who's been let down by the system for years. 🌟 I’d love to hear about any epiphanies you’ve had that changed your life's direction. What was your moment of clarity? 🤔 #Change #Epiphany #PropertyDevelopment #SpecialNeedsAdvocacy

Day 20 of a #sharednarrative for #Plymouth: Dreaming the future. “If we cannot imagine a better world, we cannot create it.” Hannah Harris, Plymouth Culture Our dreams start with us. We can be the pebbles that create the ripples of change. The hope and the inspiration that drives us forwards comes from people stepping forwards and creating change. A shift into alternative futures depends on changes within ourselves and how we are together - how we heal from traumas, how we reconcile with our histories, how we relate to one another, how we show care and what we prioritise. We all have a ripple effect. Actions that originate from these places of deep intention can have huge ripple effects. The "butterfly effect“: in his famous 1963 paper Lorenz picturesquely explains that a butterfly flapping its wings in Beijing could affect the weather thousands of miles away some days later. Similarly, we see how one person working on their self AND their relationships can influence an ecosystem around them. What would it look like if Plymouth could unleash our potential by nurturing our innate value, encourage the flow of love and care, and tap into our remarkable creativity? We choose…… Great to catch up in London today with Martin Clark Chartered FLIBF, it reminded me how every decision has an opportunity cost—what we say “yes” to shapes what we let go. In our busy lives, it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most. Reconnecting today reinforced the value of relationships and making intentional choices. Are we choosing wisely? #opportunitycost #networking #focus #decisionmaking #londonmeetings

Is it time to rethink Hervey Bay’s future? With our city’s population rapidly expanding, we’re at a crossroads. Do we cling to the comforts of what’s familiar and expand outward, or do we take the bold step of growing upward, reshaping the very character of Hervey Bay? This decision isn’t just about land. It’s about the lifestyle we want, the legacy we’ll leave, and our impact on the environment. The stakes are high—and we all have a part to play in deciding where we go from here. Where do you stand? Will you advocate for preservation and sprawl, or push for change and density? This is your moment to speak up and define the future of our city.

The philosophy of ONE SMALL TOWN is simple. We choose to stand united, cooperate and collaborate in cleaning our towns and fixing what is broken. We all agree to contribute 3 hours per week to make all of this possible. Then we develop business plans to start good profitable business that are possible in our towns and surrounding areas. We work with farmers and make plans for growing as much food as we can and create our own seed banks and food security. We protect what we create and stimulate our sports, arts and cultural activities. Find markets for what we grow and manufacture and generate profits to distribute amongst our members. We never own less than 60% of what we start allowing investors an exciting opportunity to partner with us in our collective initiatives and benefit from our collective labour force. BUT - none of this is possible without a management system to ensure structure, membership, implementation, transparency, project management, funding opportunities, delivery, productivity, accountability and success every step of the process. This is what the OST Platform gives our members and OST towns. It is also an indicator why 99,9% of intentional communities of the past have failed. The past 3 years we have been building the OST Platform as a secure environment for all of the above. In many ways we are launching OST on a whole new level, with strong and focused Ambassadors who are as passionate about ONE SMALL TOWN as I have been since 2005. This is our time. We are doing it for ourselves, we are not waiting for anyone to come save us. It is not easy - it takes real commitment and relentless determination. So, if you think you have what it takes to start ONE SMALL TOWN in your community, to become the Ambassador and lead by example, please read our website HOW TO GET INVOLVED and HOW TO BECOME AN AMBASSADOR, and then follow the steps. https://lnkd.in/ev8hpXhi In unity - Michael Tellinger

Community Economic Development Planner - Piedmont Triad Region at the North Carolina Department of Commerce
If your community was a canvas, what would its current & desired compositional movement be, particularly in your downtown district? Movement in art centers around the idea that our focus is guided in a composition, usually around focal points with consideration of the entire work. How do you influence the compositional movement of your commercial center or downtown district to target reinvestment? Create visible change with high impact public art improvements. These focal points reactivate spaces and encourage human connection to our places, building community identity and civic pride. What happens next? When you strategically plan to reactivate spaces around targeted reinvestment sites, you create focal points of interest around the investment opportunity. This place has potential. Something new is happening here.

Some outdated terminology here, but a key takeaway: focusing on making public spaces inviting, approachable, and comfortable for ALL people can reduce the more undesirable traits often associated with urban spaces.
