Excited about the prospect of what this brings for Zambia’s copper output. The recently signed MoU between the Ministry of Mines and Ivanhoe outlines how Ivanhoe, which has applied for a significant exploration licence package in Zambia, intends to co-develop prospective projects in partnership with the Ministry of Mines. Under the terms of the MoU, the Ministry will identify prospective land packages; provide access to existing and new geological data collected by the Zambian government, including the recently announced 750 000 km2country-wide airborne geophysical survey. Learn about the geological principles of uranium deposit formation during the SEG 2024 workshop Primary and Secondary Uranium Exploration on Sept 26. An Africa-centric approach will be provided, covering Namibia, Niger, and South Africa in particular, and will include examples from Botswana among others. This course will provide an overview of the global major uranium deposit-types, including primary (alaskite type) and secondary uranium deposits. Deposit geology, host rock genesis and characterization, mineralization models and controls, as well as the main methods of exploration will be discussed. Europe needs to be actively securing critical metals in Australia now more than at any other time in history. That means investing in exploration, development and mining projects at unprecedented levels. Ownership of the metals and minerals that are raw material inputs into battery and electric vehicle technologies is one of the ways to wrestle back some leverage. Asian countries have been investing so much money for so long that their battery and electric vehicle technology is beyond superior and their position on the cost curve means that an over-regulated Europe can't compete. The Exploring for the Future Darling-Curnamona-Delamerian project has released insights into the mineral systems of the Delamerian Margin, the eastern frontier of the Delamerian Orogen. This new study sheds light on the metallogenic features of key mineral prospects, known deposits, and their formation processes. Researchers have analysed drill core, utilising 38 legacy drill holes from 22 mineral deposits/prospects across three states, focusing on mineral assemblages, rock textures, and geological sequences. Geoscience Australia scientists have identified four distinct mineral systems: ⛏️ Porphyry-epithermal ⛏️ Volcanic hosted massive sulfide (VHMS) ⛏️ Orogenic gold ⛏️ Mafic-ultramafic Cu-Ni-PGE These findings enhance our understanding of mineral systems and pave the way for more targeted exploration activities. The report also highlights the presence of critical minerals like cobalt, indium, and molybdenum within these systems, essential for Australia's technological advancement and the shift towards a net-zero future. 𝐔𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩-𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐚 We’ve made significant strides in unlocking valuable data for the Bismarck Sea, just north of Papua New Guinea. This data, which could drastically reduce exploration risks near the seabed, opens new possibilities in a region with immense potential.  As you may know, Nautilus Minerals' Solwara-1 project sought to extract copper, gold, silver, and zinc from a seafloor sulfide deposits 1.6 km below the Bismarck Sea. Yet, beyond this, mineral-rich nodules are thought to be scattered across the seafloor, particularly around hydrothermal vents formed by the WNW-ESE geological spreading zone.  In a game-changing breakthrough, 33,000 km of multi-fold seismic 2D lines acquired by the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources in the 1970s, and previously digitally inaccessible, have now been transcribed by GeoCom Australia, in conjunction with Subjunctive Geo, using "state-of-the-art technology". The "Mine Safety Technology" event hosted by the National Mine Safety Administration opened in Heilongjiang Province recently. The event was themed "Technology Empowered and Strengthened the Foundation", promoting hashtag #mine safety technology knowledge and advanced scientific and technological achievements. During the event, Zhao Yongfeng, the general manager of CCTEG, and relevant leaders of key coal mining enterprises in Heilongjiang visited the CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute booth for exchanges.
