Our interns had a chance to ask a group of CHS leaders some questions at our headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., in a recent panel event. Mary Kaul-Hottinger, Gary Halvorson, Rick Dusek, and Brandon Smith met with summer interns, both in-person and virtually. The discussion covered a variety of topics including: setting career goals, receiving feedback, culture and employee retention and more.
"Always be willing to change. Look at the possibilities. Have agility and adaptability. That's the future; things change fast." - Kaul-Hottinger
"At a company like ours, you can start in one place and follow a passion to other places that might feed a curiosity or help with your professional development... Challenge yourself and chase your passions. It's all fuel for a career." - Halvorson
"Try different experiences to help you figure out what you like and if the company is where you'd want to grow your career. Always be learning and meeting people." - Dusek
"There's always cycles in business, good and bad. Be known as a person that leans in, asking ‘How can I help?' People will remember those tough times and how you showed up as a leader to help." - Smith
