One week on from TRA 2024 and we are still trying to process everything that happened. We are grateful to the over 4000 delegates who joined us in Dublin to make TRA 2024 unforgettable. One of our highlights was the story of Conall Mac Aongusa, who lost his wallet on the no. 4 Dublin Bus en route to TRA. Driver Robert Dowling found it and personally called to inform him it was at the depot. Unable to retrieve it, as Conall was still at TRA, Robert went above and beyond, delivering it personally to TRA. Have you heard❓👀 Our social and market research experts, Principal Consultants Emma Pym and Bradley Goodsell, are going to be at the #EuropeanTransportConference in Antwerp this month! 🗣️ This year’s theme focuses on providing mobility and access for current and future generations. The climate emergency, equity issues and a changing economic reality continue to present challenges for transport planners. And, it is essential that these professionals can call upon a reliable evidence base when it comes to providing sustainable, inclusive, efficient and affordable movement and access solutions for people and goods. On day 2 of the conference, Emma will be presenting ‘Is it really as simple as Tapping On? Lessons from the Tap On, Tap Off Pilot in North Wales’. Emma’s talk will focus on the decline in bus patronage in Wales due to the complex bus planning and operations environment which makes the network difficult to use and understand, and SYSTRA’s 3 phase programme of research for Transport for Wales to explore the issue. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Transport Stack initiative in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)/ JICA DXLab (Data and Digital Lab). The Transport Stack is based on concept of Digital Public Infrastructure (#DPI) and Digital Public Goods (#DPG) applied to citizen mobility services and offerings to transport service providers (buses, metros, taxis and last mile mobility players). With this we shall create good open data, protocols and services that can offer value across citizens, transport authorities, govt functions, spur new business innovation and focus on sustainable mobility. This report underscores the potential of digital frameworks like Transport Stack to transform city mobility, promising improved efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation, thereby fostering a sustainable cityscape and setting the stage for an interconnected future in mobility.
