Human trafficking is born out of and survives on a multitude of factors and systemic failures making it difficult to eradicate. Daughters of Charity in Ecuador understand the solution is not simple and cannot be done alone. Together with local, national, and international actors, Sisters in Ecuador have built a diverse network of organizations to combat human trafficking.
A program collaborator reflects on their experience, “The religious and spiritual touch inserted with the presence of the '[Daughters of Charity]' has given strength, forcefulness, value to many of the actions we have taken. I think, without anyone saying it, that the fact they are here has been, for other organizations or for the institutions, a guarantee that the things are real and are going to be achieved.”
Together with these collaborators, Sisters have been able to develop programs like business management and entrepreneurship training, human trafficking awareness workshops, gender-based violence prevention workshops, and many others. These programs have had profound impacts on the community, allowing those who live there to grow and thrive.
