I'm sometimes accused of being attracted to shiny new things ... Guilty as charged .... 80's me attempting a corkscrew perm; gotta catch 'em all Pokemon; 1D .... but professionally I've been talking about one thing now for 20years+ : the 'war for talent', first profiled by McKinsey in 1997. Whether I was moving job adverts online; making talent newsletters; competing with rising super powers and nationalization strategies; seeking out the best graduates or now at PropertyGuru Group looking for first movers in AI in all functions - talent acquisition is my passionate constant focus. So when I had the opportunity to join in a recent networking event about hiring trends and challenges, and contribute to a global perspective, it was super sweet to dive deep in to a topic that's kept me engaged for years. The headline really is that the war for talent is going in to overdrive with increasing skills shortages predicted worldwide and new in-demand skills far outpacing supply: AI; Machine learning; prompt writing; analytics; robotics; electrotechnology +++ My thanks to Cielo Talent, Kumar Bhaya and Gregory Summers for an excellent event and delightfully funny, thought-provoking dinner conversation.
