The Czech airlines A319 is taking off. Recently the Russian flag carrier celebrated its 100 years birthday. Later this year Czech airlines also turn a century of operations. The airline which decades ago was a well known flag carrier CSA and operated various Western and Soviet aircraft types, crossed the Atlantic on its Ilyushin Il-18 and even had the significant amount of long range Il-62s, today has shrunk to just one airplane in its fleet. The only thing that has been left intact after the long history is the airline code. The airline code is a unique combination of two letters or a letter and number. The Czech airlines have a well known IATA code OK. Every airline is designated its unique code. The codes are used by airlines to identify an airline for commercial purposes in reservations, timetables, tickets, tariffs, air waybills. Aeroflot has SU code as a legacy of the USSR. The Czech OK code is also historical. Then Czechoslovakia was assigned the radio transmission identifier OK. The aircraft registration prefix for the country is also OK, likely as a result the main airline got its OK code #aviation #airplane #aircraft #airline #airlineoperations #aviationhistory #aviationindustry
