Account Executive at Mainfreight - The only way to keep ahead of our competitor is by the superior performance of our people. The only measurement of that superior performance is how the customer perceives it.
Since the start, I've been unable to stop myself from talking The Mainfreight Way to everyone and anyone who will listen. The people, the values, goals, and interactions have transcended into my everyday life in so many ways. Those I surround myself with, family and friends, see the joy and pride radiate off me when I talk about my career at Mainfreight. So much so, that my life-time best friend wanted to join the team... So today I would like to congratulate Brittany Anderson on her third month with us at Mainfreight Americas. I am more than excited for her to join me and my other teammates on the sales team later this year. “Tear down the walls of bureaucracy, hierarchy and superiority.” One of my most favored cultural beliefs at Mainfreight. I seen this being practiced from day one; no one person is better than another. We are all working with integrity towards the same goal; "to keep ahead of our competitor by the superior performance of our people. The only measurement of that superior performance is how the customer perceives it." Entering this industry can be intimidating. There are many moving parts each playing a role. But take away job descriptions, we know how our teammates contribute, we've been trained to assist/perform those tasks ourselves. Learning the business and how it operates is essential to maintaining our one-hundred-year company philosophy. And that begins on our docks. I am so proud to see the personal development in Brittany throughout her training process. Her learning has truly been compulsory. Once again, congratulations! We’re just getting started.

Starting a new job is both exciting and a little nerve-wracking. As the new person, it's not just about learning the ropes—it's about finding where you fit into the company culture and building connections. That’s why how a company welcomes new team members matters so much! Here’s what every company should strive for when onboarding someone new: 1. Warm Welcomes: A friendly introduction to the team can make all the difference. 2. Clear Guidance: Having the tools and resources from day one sets the tone for success. 3. Open Doors: Encouraging questions and being open to new ideas fosters collaboration and growth. 4. Inclusive Culture: Everyone should feel valued and included from the start, ensuring the new hire becomes part of the team, not just the org chart. Grateful to be settling in at C.H. Robinson, thankful for the support I have received thus far, excited to contribute. Let’s always keep in mind: we were all the new person once! #NewBeginnings #CompanyCulture #OnboardingSuccess #LogisticsSolutions #SupplyChainExcellence #FreightForwarding #GlobalLogistics #SupplyChainInnovation #LogisticsLeadership #CHRobinson #OceanFreight #AirFreight #TransportationServices #FreightManagement #JustInTimeDelivery #CustomsBrokerage #SupplyChainVisibility #CustomerCentricLogistics

Today marks the third day at my new job, and while I'm feeling a bit tired 😪 , I'm also gaining valuable hands-on experience. My role involves driving the iconic Australian Hilux to deliver goods, often heavy metal equipment or building materials. Although I spent a total of five days training throughout August, I quickly discovered that real-world practice presents its own challenges. I didn’t take the time to reflect after my training, which has left some areas in need of improvement as I start this job. The job requires an early arrival at the pickup location, where securing the load with tie-down straps is crucial to ensure the goods are protected during transit. Building good relationships with the staff at the pickup points is also key, as they are long-term partners, and making a positive impression—such as remembering their names—can go a long way. By the second day, I realized the importance of contacting the customer ahead of the drop-off. Waiting until I’m nearly there can be stressful and unsafe, given that making calls while driving is both illegal and dangerous. Reaching out about 30 minutes before arrival gives the customer ample time to prepare and provides me with crucial information, like the correct parking spot. It also ensures the contact information on the paperwork is accurate and up-to-date. Most importantly, I’ve learned that communication is the cornerstone of this job. Keeping an open line with the manager, pickup point, and customer is essential. As a driver, I often find myself in the middle, where unresolved issues can easily escalate. Whether it’s a delivery delay or unexpected parking fees, clear communication with the customer can make all the difference. My takeaway is that addressing issues head-on and openly with the customer reduces complications. Lastly, safety and avoiding any scrapes or damages are paramount. No matter how skilled I am at the job, a single mistake on the road could lead to losses far greater than any wages earned. My goal is to use this experience to build my skills, whether I continue as a driver in HR or pursue a future as a tour bus driver. This job is a stepping stone towards those goals.

We put energy⚡ behind everything we do! Meet new hire Eddie Northcraft, our International Logistics Coordinator at our Repairs Division with his thoughts on MD&A: Q: Why did you choose to work for MD&A? A: I was working for another company doing international logistics and I did a lot of research on MD&A and found out what they did and it was definitely something I was interested in. I’ve been doing logistics for about 15 years now so it piqued my interest. It’s been about four months now and everything‘s out working out great. Q: How would you describe our company culture? A: Everybody’s friendly here! It’s a big corporation but they don’t feel like it. If you have issues and you gotta take a day off here or there - they’re very open and they’re very lenient on giving you what you need. Also if you have any other issues in your personal life - there’s programs that can help you. It’s just an all-around great atmosphere to be in! Q: What has been your favorite project at MD&A so far? A: My favorite project so far today has been a big international project and we’ve had to send trucks by barge over to an island. We’ve done probably around 15 to 20 air freight shipments to it. It’s just been one of those projects that’s a lot of moving pieces and a lot of manpower involved. It’s very challenging but it’s also very rewarding! Explore A Career with a Powerful Purpose! At MD&A, We truly work together, as one team! We collaborate, we listen, we innovate. Interested in joining our team?
