Waitrose welcomes further Small Beer innovation! Felix James and I took this picture in the Summer of 2020, an incredibly proud moment as Small Beer Brew Co. landed on the shelves of more than 160 Waitrose stores across the country. Waitrose & Partners stood true to their values of supporting independent, sustainably-minded British producers. Embracing our mid-strength beer category innovation and front-footing the rapidly changing consumer environment and their customer's relationship with alcohol. It's a relationship that has continued to blossom with Waitrose being able to cater to a customer base who are shopping more mindfully than ever. At Small Beer we're not seeing consumers wanting to forego the social occasion, but we know that many (ourselves very much included) are more conscious about the impacts of alcohol on us personally and professionally. This May we exclusively launched our Small Beer Stout across 200 stores, grew distribution of Small Beer Lager to more than 200 stores and developed our Small Beer Pale pack size proposition, increasing it from single bottle to 6packs. It continues to be a great pleasure to work with a retailer whose values align with our own. I enjoy working with 'Content Creators." Notice I didn't say 'Influencers...?!" I despise that terminology. I work with Content Creators that actually put effort into their videos. That are niche, but not broad at the same time. Those who get good engagements and more importantly, those that respond to their comments. Too many people try to convince themselves and other they are an 'influencer.' When in reality, they don't influence anything. They throw up 1/2 concocted content and move on to the next. Don't use Content Creators based on followers (those can be manipulated) or just on likes, etc. Choose Content Creators that you enjoy, that make solid content and when you speak to them they are professional and fun. I've worked with many who are rude, think they are the best thing on the gram. Trust me....they were not! But the right Content Creators can help your business.

If you're in the US this week, then you're in for a treat 🌮 Chipotle and Strava are partnering together to encourage and reward healthy habits this year. The Mexican-inspired restaurant chain has become the first brand to build a customised challenge and segments on Strava, which will reward athletes with a chance to win free products 🌯 But what is the reason for the partnership? According to a Chipotle running study, nearly 70% of their customers who are runners indicate that they are likely or very likely to eat Chipotle after training for a race. The key takeaway from yesterday's quarterly Craft Wine Association's Advocacy Group meeting: How easy does your winery make it for the media to write about you? Our speaker, Carl Giavanti, a winery publicist, provided valuable insights into achieving media success for wineries. My takeaways included: ▪️ Having a dedicated trade and media page on your website. ▪️ Providing a compelling story about your brand, along with background information and owner bios. ▪️ Ensuring contact details for a publicity manager are available on your website, and that this person is responsive to emails. ▪️ Building trust through consistent responsiveness and maintaining a public presence. This raises the question for all producers: Are you making it easy for your winery to be featured in the media? Do you have bottle shots, background information, trade information, and a person in charge of publicity? During the meeting, following Carl's insightful talk, Sean O'Leary, Irish Liquor Lawyer, provided an update on the Chevron Deference and Total Wines Case. Advocacy Group Chair, Steven Harrison, also shared updates on the continued support and distribution of the National Direct Shipping Bill of Rights.
