"I run a tight ship on hiring, we use a 4-stage interview process" I was talking about all things about hiring with an MD of a growing insurance broker yesterday. Glossing over the fact they use a 4 stage interview process.... which I'm not against if it's a highly senior & critical role and it's done efficiently..sure. But it was more the mentality behind it. We should always be striving to be better in how we hire and grow talent because it's a lot more complicated than what people think. The only time you can truly say you run a "tight-hiring ship", is when 🏆 Every team is working as productively as possible 🏆 High levels of well-being and team connection 🏆 People are in the right roles for them, leveraging their strengths 🏆 You Find the right people every single time and they stay...and you know WHY it worked! (no coin flipping) 🏆 No unexpected surprises (someone leaving early or misaligned in their role) Be comfortable in the fact that hiring is a big big world and it's a never-ending journey of improvement. I've been doing it for 10 years now and am comfortable with the fact I know very little in the grand scheme of things and am happy to keep on searching! #hiring #talent #recruiting #talentacquisition #management

Dos and Don'ts When Interviewing Accountants - A Guide for Companies Interviewing accountants? It's more than just diving into a sea of numbers and figures! DO look beyond the resume. Yes, credentials matter, but so does the candidate's ability to communicate, lead, and adapt. DON'T stick to a script. Each candidate is unique. So tailor your questions to their experience, aspirations, and potential contributions. This helps the candidate see you also took time to prepare for the conversation. DO give them a problem to solve. Real-world scenarios can often reveal more about a candidate's critical thinking and problem-solving skills. DON'T drag out the hiring decision. If you need input from several co-workers, consolidate the interviews. Also, plan future interviews in advance with the assumption the initial one will go well. Remember, the right accountant can steer your business to new heights. So take the time to find the perfect match (while still respecting they may have other opportunities they are interviewing for)!
