While continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy is an effective treatment for positional OSA - up to 50% of CPAP are non-compliant with it. Patients usually report problems such as claustrophobia, mask discomfort, inability to tolerate the air pressure and side effects such as nasal congestion or eye irritation. However, when there's a will to sleep peacefully, there's also a way! This study compared the effectiveness and safety of three medications used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness in people with obstructive sleep apnea. The study found that all three medications worked well, but one, pitolisant, had the best safety profile and overall benefit-risk ratio. The authors recommend more research with larger studies directly comparing these medications.
