This #HashTagHealthTipTuesday, we provide some tips to help identify whether foods are #ultraprocessed: 1. Check the ingredient list: Ultra-processed foods often contain long lists of ingredients, many of which may be unfamiliar or hard to pronounce. Look for additives like artificial sweeteners, flavour enhancers (e.g., MSG), preservatives, and colourants. 2. Look for refined ingredients: If the food contains refined sugars (e.g., high fructose corn syrup), refined flour, or hydrogenated oils, it's likely ultra-processed. These ingredients are stripped of nutrients during manufacturing. 3. Watch for food additives: Ingredients like emulsifiers, thickeners, stabilisers, and artificial flavourings are common in ultra-processed foods. These are added to enhance texture, shelf life, or taste but aren't in minimally processed foods. 4. Pre-packaged and ready-to-eat: Foods marketed as "convenience" items, such as instant noodles, frozen dinners, and packaged snacks, are typically ultra-processed and designed for quick consumption without much preparation. 5. Highly advertised, branded products: Ultra-processed foods are often heavily marketed and have attractive packaging. They might promote added vitamins or minerals, but these are typically added back in after processing stripped them out. #HealthyLiving #EatWholeFoods #NutritionMatters #ProcessedFoodAwareness #ChooseRealFood

Fibre is enjoying its moment in the food trend spotlight, and we’ve noticed several food and brands formulating products to increase fibre content. For example: Soda brands OLIPOP PBC and poppi both contain inulin, a type of dietary fibre Natural Balance Foods brand Nakd had released two Fruit & Fibre bars: apple & cinnamon and strawberry & raspberry Perkier Foods Ltd I B Corp™ reformulated its snack bars to contain 7.5g chicory fibre Rowntrees has launched a range of gummy sweets containing soluble corn fibre Tate & Lyle has developed a non-dairy fibre-enriched soft serve ice cream To learn more about the benefits of focusing on fibre, and how to create compliant high fibre product claims, check out our blog post in the comments below. #FoodInnovation #HighFibre #HealthyEating #ProductDevelopment #Fibre

Reading labels on processed foods is even more important than for fresh foods for a few reasons: 🍬Processed foods often contain a surprising amount of added sugar, sodium, and unhealthy fats. These may not be readily apparent from the taste or even the front of the packaging. Labels help you identify these and make informed choices. 🍭Processed foods often contain preservatives, artificial colors, flavors, and other additives to extend shelf life or enhance taste. While generally safe, some people may prefer to avoid them for health reasons or simply because they want to know exactly what they're consuming. Labels provide this transparency. 🚫Packaging can be misleading, with claims like "healthy" or "all-natural" that don't always reflect reality. Labels provide a more objective picture of the ingredients and nutrients. 🧂Sugar can come in many forms, and manufacturers may use sneaky wording to mask high sugar content. Labels reveal the amount of sugar (including added sugars) per serving. #TheMintEnfold #CulinaryNutritionist #ConsciousEating #WholesomeFoodChoices #MindfulEating #SustainableSnacking #NutritionJourney #RitikaAgarwal

PURIS® HiLo is an acid-stable plant protein optimized for low pH/high acid applications. With ultra high solubility, it can be seamlessly added to products without imparting viscosity. Traditionally, plant proteins have been incompatible in acidic environments due to protein precipitation, which creates an extremely gritty mouthfeel. PURIS HiLo is changing the game by creating a solution for protein fortification in acidic beverages and foods. Stability in acidic environments means that PURIS HiLo will impart a clean taste along with a smooth, non-chalky mouthfeel in low pH applications. With 80% protein purity and low water hold, PURIS HiLo makes it easier hit protein claims without contributing to viscosity. You can use it in Fruit Juices, Fruit Purees, Coffee, Soups, Sauces, Dressings/ Dips, Gummies, Sports Nutrition Beverages, Functional and Carbonated Waters, Acidic Products (pH ≤ 4.5). #puris #purishilo #plantbasedprotein
