Dog socialization is a crucial aspect of raising a well-rounded and well-behaved dog. It involves exposing your furry friend to various environments, people, and other dogs, helping them develop positive behaviors, and reducing Anxiety in unfamiliar situations. Well-socialized dogs are less likely to experience Anxiety in new environments or around unfamiliar people and animals. Socialization builds confidence and a sense of security in your furry companion. Read more: https://lnkd.in/d3QPSRUH #dog #puppylove #dogtraining #socialization #dogboarding

A little more than a year ago we decided we wanted another dog to play with Tori our super playful jack russel pit mix. We are huge proponents of rescue dogs. We found a website where people listed dogs in need because none of the shelters in our area had the breeds we were looking for. After a few months of searching a sweet couple got back in contact with us and we agreed to meet at a dog park (it’s best to introduce pets on neutral ground). Both dogs played well together at the park. The couple basically dumped their dog on us even though we agreed to give it a try for a few weeks. The dog we rescued was named Athena and we typically call her Tina now. We noticed some hyper aggressive behaviors in Tina after a few days but it took some time to figure out Tina’s triggers and Tori’s triggers as well. Two things we’ve learned from the process of integrating a new dog into our family are; it’s a process and improvement takes time. The second thing we learned is Tina is absolutely fearless! The video below was taken recently. She jumped in the lake and went for a swim. Some of you reading this might be wondering how to start something new. Take a lesson from Tina and jump in the water. Be fearless! #fearless #jumpin #takerisk #solvetheproblem #justdoit #motivated #starttoday #cheerstoyou #socialimpact #communitydevelopment #economicimpact #economicdevelopment

The Yellow Dog campaign helps raise awareness for the general public about dogs that need some space when out on walks Not ever dog can be off lead; not every dog is ok with having other dogs approach them and not every dog wants interaction with other people or dogs. This can be for a number of reasons - the dog has had a bad experience with another dog so is scared/anxious; the dog may be in the middle of training, or simply a dog that may not like other dogs. Many rescue dogs are still settling into their new environments. The dog will already be over stimulated so by adding something yellow, allows their owners to hopefully signal that the dog needs space to others. If you come across someone who has something yellow on their dog (harness; lead; collar or a sign) please stop and think about approaching with your dog. Always ask the dog owner before approaching; they will be only too happy to explain. Also please note they know their dog better than you do because please be respectful if they ask you to step away with your dog. They may be trying to socialise their dog in areas to build confidence and also it is not always possible to avoid other dogs on each dog walk. They are trying to keep their dog safe and would not want the added responsibility of having to worry about your dog too. For more information on the campaign or please check out their site: https://lnkd.in/eWVSZBjW. #responsibledogownership #yellowdogcampaign #rescuedogs

When looking to bring a dog into your life, remember that adopting is a compassionate choice. There are countless dogs waiting for their forever homes in shelters and rescue organizations. By adopting, you not only give a loving home to a deserving dog but also help reduce the demand for puppy mills and unethical breeding practices. Choose adoption, not shopping, and give a dog a second chance at a happy, loving life. https://lnkd.in/eXNutPbZ
