Remember how I intended to post weekly?  Well, life happened, and week 3 (and part of week 4) totally slipped my mind! Fret not! To make up for it, here is a photo of me in the shirt my 6 year old bought for me 😁 This week, I want to delve into a crucial principle: Prevention First. What is Prevention First? It's about proactively creating a healthy and safe work environment, before problems arise. It's about anticipating risks, equipping people with knowledge and resources, and fostering a culture of protection and prevention. Why is it important? For me, Prevention First is about supporting both the numbers and the individuals. It's about active listening and empathy: Not just hearing concerns, but understanding the message and experiences behind them. The approach needs to be holistic: Ditching the one-size-fits-all and tailoring solutions to each team, department, and individual. Self-care and  empowerment: Providing tools and resources to manage stress, build resilience, and make informed decisions about mental health. Teamwork makes the dream work: For the best outcomes, there needs to be collaboration with employers, people leaders and employees to design and implement effective strategies.
