Collaboration. That’s Dove House’s theme for 2024. Here’s why: Last quarter alone, Dove House served 79 women between our two locations in Marion County and Dubois County, with 70% of clients successfully discharged. Of those who were discharged, nearly 20% moved on to our Steps to Success Program, where Dove House provides rent assistance for housing while they continue to receive case management and recovery support from our team. Staying connected is so valuable for long-term success—and that’s exactly what our Doves are doing! The results speak for themselves: financial stability, reunification with children, safe and affordable housing, and genuine self-sufficiency. Community support and partnerships are essential to achieving these incredible outcomes. It’s no wonder our CEO lights up when she talks about Dove House. Tune in to today's episode of Wednesdays with Wendy Noe for a look at what to expect throughout the year. #collaboration #WednesdaysWithWendy #CEO #reunification #financialstability #selfsufficiency #housing

It's time to recognize the challenges facing our community, especially those struggling to support their families. Let's come together to advocate for their needs and give back. By establishing strong foundations for families in need, we can make a significant impact. Remember, they are us, and we are them. As a small business owner, my company has personally experienced the struggle, we haven’t had a contract since January, its disheartening to see so many others facing the same lack of opportunities. Waiting for months to sign contracts, attending event after event, while the odds are stacking up against us to sustain our business, homes, or hire people from the community. Advocating for families, small businesses, and the community is crucial for sustainability. It only takes one genuine opportunity to change lives. Together, let's work towards creating these opportunities and building a sustainable future for all. Let's keep in mind that our worst day could be their best. As a community, let's come together and pay it forward. #community #service #payitforward #together #families #sustainability #housing #foundation #smallbusiness #FranklinCounty #ColumbusOhio

🌟 Growellth Highlight of the Week 🌟 This week, Growellth reached a significant milestone as we began collaborating with a woman in Haringey who has courageously joined us in our mission to alter the trajectory for individuals facing repossession. Her journey epitomises the challenges we aim to address, starting from the non-payment of council related tax bill, (which was not her responsibility, and unbeknownst to her), spiralled into a series of devastating consequences. 💥 She faced repossession 💥 Lost her home 💥 Lost her Marriage 💥 Incurred a hefty £100K legal fee post-sale, 💥 Encountered barriers accessing universal benefits 💥 Denied property guardianship housing Tragically, she endured nearly a decade of homelessness amidst these adversities. Our collaboration with her signifies a pivotal step forward in our efforts to prevent more stories like hers from unfolding in our community. At Growellth, we are committed to providing support and resources to individuals facing financial hardship, ensuring they have the tools to navigate challenges and secure stable housing. By addressing systemic barriers and offering tailored solutions, we strive to empower individuals to reclaim their financial stability and housing security. As we stand alongside this remarkable woman in her journey towards rebuilding her life, we remain steadfast in our commitment to effecting positive change and preventing the replication of such distressing narratives. Together, with our community partners and supporters, we are dedicated to creating a future where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing, free from the threat of repossession. 💼🏠 #FinancialEmpowerment #HousingSecurity #CommunitySupport #Growellth #FinancialWellness #EmpowermentJourney #FinancialAdvocacy #SocialChange #CommunityImpact #Gratitude pic: staggering statistics on repossession. She's not alone, She's not to the first and sadly, She wont be the last

When we say we make data-driven investments that are informed by the needs of the community, this is what we mean: Our flagship Neighbor to Neighbor program hires residents as #volunteers who go door-to-door to provide their neighbors with resources and information to help them stay in their homes. It's also a fact-finding mission, where we learn about the issues most concerning to residents. In 2023, we launched Neighbor to Neighbor in #Atlanta. Based on those findings, we've begun investing in programs and partnerships to better support residents with critical housing resources. Peel Region had a strong presence at the 2024 AMO conference and I’m pleased to see that our HOME advocacy framework was featured. Peel’s affordable housing crisis is impacting residents from all walks of life and with a range of needs; from people experiencing chronic homelessness to households spending far too much on housing costs, and one crisis away from precarious housing. While our staff and community partners have adapted to the changing housing landscape and are delivering programs and supports that are aligned with community need, we need all levels of government to work together to enact policies to help more residents get and keep affordable, stable housing. This includes providing significantly more funding for community (social) and supportive housing. Last year, we launched our HOME advocacy framework; built on extensive research, sector expertise, and achievable goals. Since its launch we have had encouraging discussions with federal, provincial, and municipal governments. We will continue to make the case for HOME and report on its progress. Did you know? 💡 In 2023 the US had HALF the available housing inventory compared to 1995! Who did this impact the most? Families whose annual income was $50k-$75k. There simply isn't the inventory needed for low to middle income buyers, meaning more families are living cost burdened by paying more than 30% of their monthly income on rent. Here in Racine...1 in 4 renters are paying MORE than 50% of their monthly income on housing. Simply put, this isn't sustainable! Every Racine Habitat for Humanity house that our supporters help build creates lasting change in the lives of our partner families. One home at a time, we will make affordable homeownership a reality. #hope #mission #advocacy

So what is Houston’s secret? The turning point came in 2011, when Houston had the fifth-highest number of homeless people in America. That’s when the mayor at the time, Annise Parker, a numbers-driven policy wonk, introduced hardheaded new initiatives that her successor, Sylvester Turner, sustained. What unfolded wasn’t a triumph of compassion so much as one of evidence, management and impeccable execution, and in that, there are probably broader lessons for governing. There were arguably three elements. First, the city had strong political leaders who herded nonprofits so that they worked in unison rather than competing. Second, Houston’s lack of regulation makes it easy, quick and cheap to build new apartments: Building a small one-bedroom can cost less than $200,000, while Los Angeles spent as much as $837,000 per apartment for people who were homeless. Third, Houston focused less on general help, such as handing out jackets or providing counseling, and more on moving people into apartments and providing ongoing care to keep them housed.
