Meet us in Valencia this July at SEED - International Conference on the Sustainable Energy and Environmental Development! SEED will be hosted this year in Valencia, Spain, July 3-5, 2024, bringing together researchers, academics, and practitioners worldwide. We are happy to announce that we will host a #workshop at SEED! In our workshop, we address the challenges faced by international students participating in courses in renewable energy systems: Many universities worldwide offer Master degree courses in renewable energy systems. As English has become the generally accepted language in a globalized world, courses being taught in English are attended by students coming from all over the world. Although we live in a globalized world and the international Master degree is a product representing it, not necessarily there are valid global energy solutions. The approach for energy solutions may differ widely from different geographic regions. More universities are embracing solar energy to enhance sustainability efforts on their campuses, the two latest to implement this are Princeton and Northeastern. Princeton University in New Jersey is planning to implement four solar installations, totaling 2.2 MW, on various structures across its campus. These installations, to be carried out by Brightcore Energy starting in the summer of 2024, align with Princeton's Sustainability Action Plan, which aims for net zero carbon neutrality by 2046. The university emphasizes a commitment to avoiding the purchase of offsets, viewing it as an ineffective solution to climate change. Northeastern University in Boston recently completed a notable solar project on the rooftop of its Snell Library, boasting a 158 kWp system installed by Ameresco. This initiative is part of Northeastern's longstanding dedication to sustainability, as evidenced by its membership in various climate-focused organizations. The university has already achieved a 42% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per square foot of building space on its Boston campus between 2005 and 2020, largely attributed to fuel switching, energy conservation measures, and sustainable building design. Both universities view solar installations as crucial steps towards achieving their sustainability goals while providing valuable learning opportunities for students. Individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills can change the business practices and corporate strategy of a multinational energy company. ✔️Students need to be educated to become consumers (and prosumers) of energy who are aware of the costs associated with the choice between low-carbon and fossil fuel energy sources. ✔️Individuals and communities need the education to enable them to participate as producers, workers, or businesspeople in the new renewable energy market that, progressively reduces and replaces the fossil fuel sector. ✔️Education needs to enable the individual and community to demand changes from economic and political actors. #sustainibility #energytransition #greenenergy

Climate education and awareness ontechnological practices that promote environmentalsustainability especially amongst youth and young minds can create a positive impact. Agrivoltaics presents a potential study and field of Research for present generation of students and young researchers. Recommendations: ------------------------------------------- 1) Networking helps exchange of knowledge and information with other national and international Agrivoltaic researchers. 2) Students can be invited to attend research conferences where students can also be given the opportunity to present the findings from their own agrivoltaic research projects. 3) Expedition trips and workshops can be arranged to provide professional experience to these students, that could help provide a boost for their own careers down the line. 4) Classroom pilot projects on Agrivoltaics can be given based on what they have seen on site where such projects have actually been implemented. 5) Funding and presentation of their research should be done not only to motivate bright ideas and give them the opportunities as a part of their broader efforts.
