United States Core Data for Interoperability Plus Cancer (USCDI+ Cancer) is a recommended minimum set of key cancer-related data elements to be included in a person’s electronic health record. 📌 It allows health care providers to share health information seamlessly, advance equity in treatment, and improve care and outcomes for people facing cancer across the country, especially in rural and underserved areas. 📌 Standardizing data across electronic health records also opens new possibilities for faster research results and more effective public health interventions. In our latest #340BInformed blog post, we discuss recent research published in Health Affairs highlighting the critical role of #340B in supporting rural hospitals that treat cancer patients. bit.ly/463IXmg   The study underscores how 340B savings contribute to expanding #cancer care services in underserved areas. With more than 46 million Americans living in #rural regions and facing challenges in accessing quality health care, this research sheds light on one promising solution. OneLondon Health Data Board has approved three new projects using its OneLondon Secure Data Environment (SDE) to support improved direct care, planning, and research, writes Digital Health. The projects will use data to drive real improvements in the capital's health and care and demonstrate how #DataSharingSavesLives. Our friends from North West London ICB are involved in the initiatives, which will examine hard-to-diagnose #cancer, #diabetes mellitus complication risk, and the London #asthma decision support tool. Following major engagement activity, Londoners support using joined-up data to support individual care, proactive care, planning, and research. ⚡Payers’ coverage policies will impact MCED test adoption and access; thus, their perspectives must be understood. Private payers should be stakeholders of a national MCED policy and equity agenda. What do payers say about MCED tests? This publication examined views, coverage barriers, and evidentiary needs for MCED from 19 private payers collectively covering 150 000 000 enrollees: 🎯 84% saw MCED test’s potential merit for cancers without current screening 🎯 37% saw MCED's merit for cancers with existing screening 🎯 73% stated largest coverage barriers were inclusion of cancers without demonstrated benefits of early diagnosis 🎯 53% considered a high false-negative rate as a barrier 🎯 53% stated lack of care protocols for MCED–detected but unconfirmed cancers as a barrier 🎯 58% would not require mortality evidence and would accept surrogate endpoints 🎯 64% would accept rigorous RWE in the absence of a large RCT 🎯 74% did not expect MCED to reduce disparities due to potential harm from overtreatment Payers’ perspectives and evidentiary needs may inform MCED test developers, researchers producing evidence, and health systems framing MCED screening programs. GPs and researchers will analyse data in GP systems without accessing patient-identifiable info, aiming to uncover life-saving advances. OpenSAFELY, developed with the University of Oxford, has already played a crucial role in over 150 projects during the pandemic. The Theme of this year is “Learn. Prevent. Screen” to raise awareness of cervical cancer globally and a vision of a world where cervical cancer is eliminated as a public health problem. According to WHO, Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women globally. Cost-effective prophylaxis is vaccination against HPV, and screening and treatment of pre-cancer lesions are effective ways. Cervical cancer can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage and treated promptly.
