The Bridge2Food#EcoSystemSession startup pitch competition has been a stimulating experience, showcasing the boundless creativity and unwavering determination that fuel the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for inventiveness. It is truly an honor to have been a part of this event where we witnessed the convergence of brilliant ideas and pioneering solutions for the proteins of tomorrow.
Congratulations to tHEMEat Company, the top-voted startup of the morning session. The Meat Company focuses on creating novel flavour solutions to solve the issue of taste and texture that has plagued the alternative proteins field since its inception. What's more, they propose a technology that offers competitive pricing compared to animal proteins, an incredible feat for the plant-based world.
I would also like to congratulate C16 Biosciences. Their concept of sustainable palm oil alternatives captivated the audience and emerged as the top-voted proposition in the afternoon session of the competition.
Your dedication to creating high-performance biodesigned ingredients is remarkable.
To our other participating startups, you are the backbone of protein transition, and we are truly inspired by your ingenuity. This industry relies strongly on your concepts and boldness to march on in the journey of building a more sustainable feeding system for all.
I firmly believe in these brilliant minds, and I anticipate witnessing their continued growth and the impact they will create in the years to come.

I thoroughly enjoyed every single pitch!
Each proposal was incredibly exhilarating, and I am particularly inspired by the lengths to which the human mind can innovate.
This is a real display of our tenacity and ability to adapt, acclimatize, modify, and reshape our world to suit the evolving necessities of our species.
Bridge2Food's EcoSystem session indeed demonstrated the importance of startups in driving innovation, and I am equally inspired by all the concepts from all the participating startups at this event.
Enifer is leading the charge in sustainable feeding by transforming circular economy by-products into planet-friendly protein, converting dilute side streams into a high-protein ingredient.
Hoxton Farms and Fattastic Technologies develop sustainable fats for meat alternative applications.
Abolis Biotechnologies uses micro-organisms to develop new bioproduction solutions.
Nectariss creates a fermentation technology that enables the generation of food with new natural flavors
Jellatech produces high-quality, pure, animal-free collagen and gelatin to make better ingredients
Vivici is an innovative ingredients company making superior dairy proteins
Fungu'it creates healthy, local, and low-carbon protein sources through mushroom fermentation
and
Occam Bioscience develops cultured meat.
We were also fortunate to witness the pitch from Ajinomatrix, a startup whose Taste Tuner technology is set to revolutionize the food and
beverage industry using sensory analysis with artificial intelligence.
Although they didn't all claim a top spot in the competition, all these companies proposed timely solutions that resonated strongly.
The winners:
tHEMEat Company creates novel flavour solutions to improve taste and texture of meat alternative at a reasonable price, and
C16 Biosciences creates high-performance biodesigned ingredients (particularly sustainable palm oil alternatives)
Deeply inspired and looking forward to seeing the massive potential of these inventions unveiled.

🌱 The alt-protein industry is optimistic long-term but faces short-term hurdles like funding.
In her latest column for Protein Production Technology International, Laine Clark Senior Corporate Engagement Manager, Innovation at The Good Food Institute, tells the untold story of starting up.
Here, Laine tackles supporting struggling startups and displaced talent, while offering a roadmap for future success through strategic planning and a supportive community.
"As an industry, we should align on being sympathetic and empathetic when a company is in the middle of laying off employees or closing the doors," writes Laine.
"After all, entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, and even a defeated founder has demonstrated uncommon courage just by acting on their dream."
